    Chicago, Evanston

wow, I've lived in Chicago for over a year and haven't canvassed the city as much as you did in that one trip. One thing worth exploring is the Milwaukee Ave Corridor, and the culture of new-build, infill, "Dwell"ish modern boxes that get plugged into the gentrified/-fying neighborhoods like...

    Moving to Chicago

huh? not following Chicago = boston + 100 skyscrapers, an extra airport, a functional transit system, 18 miles of waterfront park, and a few million people

    NYC Architecture and Development

in lieu of a spinoff thread.... i'm a 10 year boston resident recently turned chicagoan. I've been here 4 months (and occasionally still lurk on archboston, obviously). It is cheaper here, real estate especially; not quite as much as online cost of living calculators predicted, but i'd say...

    Twenty20 @ Northpoint | 20 Child Street | Cambridge

Re: NorthPoint Cambridge (The one that was train yards, the big plan.) There are stairs and a plaza, and how. They are blocked by the building in that view of the model, but if you scroll about 1/3 down the page below you will see some pretty delicious renderings of it all...

Canopy by Hilton (née Haymarket Hotel) | Blackstone St | Parcel 9 | Greenway

Re: Parcel 9 - The Greenway I second, the last few years there has been a lot of simplistic free market gibberish (dumbed down enough to even make Ayn Rand blush) floating around with Lincoln's name ascribed to it. Snopes eviscerates most of it, but this quote brings up nothing on Google...

    Hall of Fame (CHOOSE 3)

maybe next year a runoff to get the nominees down to 7-10 finalists? or do it via tournament bracket? this list is way too long, and there is far too much decent but middling stuff.... it looks like a tourist's vacation photo set. We need to separate the wheat from the chaff here

    Worst New Development of 2011

thanks for the third option-- neither of these are all that bad. I've never understood all the fuss about St Cecilia's addition, i don't find it offensive in the least, and it's much better than that staircase, yikes.
