Re: 319 A Street Rear

Thanks for all the pics, Beeline. This one's turning out great.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Perhaps the first time we can really say that for a new building in SBW.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

I guess we've set the bar really low for "great" then. I'd go with "not horrible".

Re: 319 A Street Rear

I'll rate it "pretty damned good". It also has the rare distinction of being one of the very few buildings that is better than what it replaced, parking lots and "taxpayers" notwithstanding. I'm still upset that it wasn't built on one of the zillion of adjacent vacant lots, but I digress. There are a few design critiques I have with it, but overall its better then every high rise I've seen yet. The materials and massing being the key elements. I can't remember the renderings, so I hope it gets a cornice that does it justice.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

I think it looks pretty darn good and is easily one of the better developments this city has seen as of late. Too bad it's not another 8-10 stories taller.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

This makes Park Lane look like Cabrini Green.

great

/grāt/

Adjective

Of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average. = Pretty much on point for Boston and definitely the area.

Noun

A great or distinguished person. = it's a building so N/A

Adverb
Excellently; very well. + I'll go with very well, but not excellently

Synonyms

grand - big - large - high = It is head and shoulders above all it's neighbors, so in the literal sense, it meets this fairly well also.

Based on the definition of the word, and taken literally. Yes it is turning out great.

Not horrible on the other, while fitting (because it obviously isn't) is not really apt, as it is quite handsome.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

My post wasn't really meant to disparage this building so much as comment on the sad fact that a decent building like this seems "great" compared to the crap we normally see.

This kind of quality should be standard at least.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Yeah, I'm liking this one so far. It seems to be doing a good job of emphasizing it's horizontal dimensions, which other recent buildings almost seem to be avoiding.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Handsome. But it could have used at least another 5 floors. Height/width proportions would have been much better.
