Re: 319 A Street Rear

This building looks good from far away. When you get up close and, and particularly when the exterior is wet, the cladding looks.. well... fake.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Isn't it unglazed terra cotta? If so, the color change when wet is the same as you see happening on pots. If anything that makes the cladding more "real".

Re: 319 A Street Rear

I'm really liking how it's turning out. What's the ground floor going to be like?

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Yeah, that subtle curve on the back side of this is looking really nice. It's good to know that this area won't be completely devoid of newer aesthetically pleasing structures.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Yes, Virginia, you can build decent architecture at FAA-mandated Seaport stub height.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Such a difference between this building and Waterside Place! Both similiar in shape and and height and to some extent, window allignment, but the cladding, such a huge step up in 319A!

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Thank you for the great shots. I join the chorus: I like it.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

I give this two thumbs up for looks so far.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Passes the rain test with flying colors.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

In the contradiction that is life, South Boston has it's examples, both bad and good. McAllen and this being the latter from a new age architectural standpoint.

Channel Center too! Those 3 buildings are like a little slice of Europe.

Re: 319 A Street Rear

Anyone know when this is slated to open? Could be best new development 2013.

Seems like anything closer to existing/historical architecture is aware of how crappy it'd look by comparison if it didn't shape up. The mass around Fan Pier/the WTC is really where the dreadfulness is concentrated.
