Allston-Brighton Infill and Small Developments

New Balance officials said previously that the company is “committed to looking at all options” to add a commuter rail station near the proposed development -- likely near Everett Street -- including that the company is willing to "assist in funding the station design, permitting and construction."

Word!

That's not the way I would have done it. I would've done it with more greenspace. And velcro laces like the ones the Celtics wear when Varitek splits the free throws. Yeah, it'll cost twice as much, but whoop-de-freakin'-do it's not my problem. Hey...you drunk kids from Framingham, don't be coming into my town making a mess of the bars on a Saturday night and pukin' all over the greenspace.

Won't somebody think of the hypotheoretical greenspace?

Welcome to Boston, where a dim-bulb ward-pol can bumble his way into the Mayor's Office and proceed to run the city like a tin-horn dictator for nearly two decades...

Somebody please tell me the ghetto crenelation is there to stay

Crenelation or not, this building has done a damn good job of looking like it's already been around for 70 years. And while in theory that sounds refreshing after all the fake brick and alucobond elsewhere, I'm actually a bit shocked at just how shabby it comes off in person. On the other hand I love how it doesn't try to pretend it's anywhere but Allston.

^ let's do that everywhere there's a one story please!

Did construction impact the businesses below?

Odd that they worked so hard to look like an older building but didn't make an effort to match the brick of the older building.

The brick will age well and it will blend much better.

I actually thought that was original. Sign of a good job!

AMFL -- Solar can not be justified economically without taxpayer / ratepayer bailouts

But more fundamenally -- since there is no good way to store bulk energy -- from a system perspective the more solar -- the more questionable the reliability of the overall system or else the more fossil-fueled back-up generation that is needed

A suburban house here and there is ok -- start having blocks of buildings covered with solar cells and the whole grid needs to be reworked at huge costs for ?? benefits

Damn they're moving quick. I board the 57 bus two blocks from here almost every day and had no clue things had started up.
