As shame they didn't post the materials in advance. I hope the long-term improvements include a flyover ramp from I-90 WB to Birmingham Parkway.

Pretty cheap to do, and really helpful for traffic in the Circle of Death.

The lack of entry and exit points on the pike really creates a nightmare on almost every exit. The Allston Cambridge one is especially bad, and I don't believe the new design will do much to alleviate it.

I know it's been said before, but the BRA needs to blow up that whole area--everything north of the Pike--and start over.

That's a very weird opinion. What do you not like about the residential areas north of the pike? The industrial areas are already being redeveloped and consolidation of ownership indicates the commercial strips will likely be redeveloped as well. And I don't think anyone wants to blow up Harvard stadium or HBS.
 
What's so bad about it? It's a little scruffy but rapidly getting redeveloped. With rents over 3k/month, the whole neighborhood should be transformed within a few years (obviously it is, with all the development in this thread).

Leo Birmingham is redundant, the old road ROW and leftover green space (dead center of image below) is completely pointless, the grade change prevents connectivity, and Soldiers Field Place shouldn't be a dead end. If this were SimCity I'd wipe it clean and start anew. There's more than enough space here for a Boston Landing 2.0.

The diagonal road to nowhere in the middle of the second image.

Actually it seems that was always just a road and connected into the city fabric just south of there. I though it was a rail spur for the old stock yards. I edited my post.

I agree 100%. At the very least, Leo Birmingham should be put on a serious road diet and the Commonwealth and City should sell off all that wasted green space to be developed. Let the market redevelop the light industrial and retail parcels over the next decade.
 
Looking at a map of the neighborhood....

What is the point of Birmingham Parkway? Seems like Soldier's Field Rd could more than handle the trips rerouted by eliminating it. Redevelop that whole area with neighborhood streets.
