I really like the way this is shaping out. It fits in with everything else like a missing puzzle piece (just talking about form). We'll see how the cladding fits in, but the footprint and height are really good for the location.

A couple of shots from this weekend:

A small facade sampler:

What is it with the half-tone screen printing on glass? It looks tacky to me.

This building absolutely dominates Stuart/Kneeland Streets from both directions. I really hope that they come through with a quality façade!

I WANT TO BELIEVE. But in my experience, Emporis is not always the most up-to-date source (especially, it seems, when it comes to Boston) and I will take that figure with a grain of salt for now.

360' would be great from a skyline perspective. I do hope that's an accurate number- we'll know soon enough either way.

Emporis "estimates" based on number of floors. That's it. Look at other buildings without the heights listed, and you'll see that Emporis "guesses" that each floor is worth ~12.45 feet. Don't believe. They make no differentiation between office and residential.

if you look at this pic from Bee Line it appears it will be taller than 45 Prov. building

45 Province is somewhere in the range of 340-350'. In that pic you quoted, AvalonBay is significantly closer than 45 Province. In reality, 45 Province is 40-50' taller than the W Hotel, even though they look the same height in that picture.....

In other words, no, this is definitely not going to be taller than 45 Province.

In the battle of the 45s on the skyline, Province beats Stuart by a country mile:

Of course 45 Province sits on the highest section of downtown so of course it's way up there.

At this point yes- point 45 stuart on that hill though and completed and you get a different story.

I actually think Stuart wins the skyline battle because it will be the tallest in its immediate area. So even though it's a tad bit shorter and at a lower starting elevation, it will still make more of an impact from afar.

On the other hand, the black wall/red cladding combo on the back of Province is garish enough to stand out for the long haul, especially from the common. (unless there are plans to eventually block this wall with another building... please???)

So yeah, it's close. No wrong answers here really.

Ceramic Frit It is a ceramic coating on the glass. This kind of fritting is used to reflect sunlight and reduce heat gain on the interior. It is unlikely that this will be installed everywhere. Most likely in specific places.

I am sure people who are a lot smarter than myself have already worked this out, but isn't heating a much larger energy hog than AC in Boston? Wouldn't solar gain be a net positive here?
