Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I figured as much, but then the question is: why is the yellow net's version of safety only used a small fraction of the time? What makes the big yellow square the best option in some places (in those places were it is deployed) but not in others?

It almost seems that the yellow things are moving straight up the tower, and that the spaces in-between have never had the yellow net.

What you're seeing is the Peri LPS Lightweight climbing system and it is climbing vertically up the tower. This is used both as worker protection on the working decks, but as additional edge protection for those below. It is the same system used at Millennium Tower a couple of years back.

The hotel portion of this project is post tension concrete and the slab is broken into thirds. The contractor appears to be using table forms for the large areas, but between each of the thirds there is a "pour-strip". The pour strip provides access to the east and west end of the post tension cables so that you can tension them. These infills are picked up about a week later after tensioning, cutting of cables, dressing up the edge of slab. They appear to be using the Peri LPS here because the form system (Peri Sky Deck) is panelized and involves a lot more handwork and opportunity to drop something. Similar reason for use at west and east ends, custom form work, opportunity to drop something

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Thanks to NEUcivENG for that answer on why Wynn uses nets some places and not others!

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Hmm didnt know that was going to be possible... Nice.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

On CNBC a couple of days ago, they had a segment on Wynn's big bet on Boston. It was a really nice piece and they were in the site with TV cameras etc. and you could really see this thing coming along. They also interviewed a few Everett townies, too. It was perfect.
Can't wait for this thing to open.

Looks like things are moving right along!!

Does anyone have any info on whats going to happen with the gateway center shopping plaza? I’ve heard from multiple sources in my line of work that at least some of the plaza is going to become parking for the casino, but I haven’t found any info about it online.

I'm not sure how that'd work. That shopping center seems to do a good business, and I doubt that Costco, Home Depot, and Target would want to move. Maybe they could add some garage parking. I've never seen the gateway lots full though so maybe there is some space.

I don’t have the full story, but it seems like some of the smaller stores (perhaps the stretch from PetSmart to Michaels) are going to be torn down, possibly for parking garages. I’ve heard it from multiple people in multiple positions of my industry, so I’m inclined to believe it.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Does that mean there will be a Gateway <-> 99 railroad crossing? Because there really should be a link between these two places that are literally 100 feet apart.

The first glass panels have been installed on the Wynn hotel tower. In total, 6,900 glass curtain wall panels will be installed - enough to span 5.5 miles.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Hell yea its on now. Its going to be badass to have our own bronze Wynn tower looming off in the distance. Having a Wynn casino right up the river is huge imo because it just adds that much more with regards to things to do in the Boston area.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Huge, maybe ... new, not quite.

Plenty of people have been 'counting on excitement' for years and years now..

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

That glass is terrible!!! Looks nothing like the renders!!! LOL. :)

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I hope your not serious (sounds like your not) that after 9 panels go up that the facade is already a failure lol that would be a world record. Wynn has built a few of these around the world now theres no reason they don't have the glass on lock. It looks the same as the one in vegas...it is.

Lets put that one to rest before it even gets started even though your kidding. We've seen this happen here all too often where we get the renders...looks good, glass is halfway on...people wonder wtf is going on, tower finishes "this is better than I expected". Lets hold off a bit here lol.
