Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Yes and no. Unless he alters the odds to be more favorable to the house, then any funding he contributes will come off his bottom line.

Which is why Wynn has to decide how much it is worth to the casino and his other real estate investments in the area... since this wasn't a condition of the casino commission this is about ROI.

I hope we aren't in a situation where the study was funded by Wynn so we get a bridge directly to the casino and then it comes in too high and then it gets shelved because Wynn won't fund the whole thing... where a couple small pedestrian/bike draw bridges over the dam might better serve the rest of the community and possibly be cheaper if Wynn money wasn't on the table and multiple stakeholders weren't at the table.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Reminds me of my home state of Nebraska and this very nice pedestrian bridge over the Missouri River. Not sure what the cost, but it's very nice in-person. It kind of goes nowhere to nowhere in my opinion, but it's very nice.

@Java that is a *really* spiff cable-stayed S walkway. Kerrey done good, so to speak.

Charge all vehicles parking at the casino a $2 transportation tax to fund the improvements

Terrible idea (at least from Wynn's perspective). You'd be surprised at the number of people for whom paying to park at a casino, even only a couple of dollars, would be a deal breaker. These same people will throw $20 down on one hand of blackjack and $5 on one pull of the slot machine without batting an eye. But if you "nickel and dime" them before they get into the door of the casino, that's going to leave a bad taste for many folks. Casino parking is almost always free in my experience.

p.s. sick shots BeeLine, thank you!

Investors go to court seeking more money on Wynn casino land sale

Most people would be psyched to quadruple their investment in four years, especially when they’re pocketing millions.

Not FBT Everett Realty. These investors have gone to court to seek a much bigger return for the Everett property they sold to Wynn Resorts for a casino. First, they sued the state gaming commission in Suffolk Superior Court. Last month, they filed a separate suit against their former law firm.

Mass. Gaming Commission told that the proposed footbridge between Somerville's Assembly Row and the Everett casino would cost "significantly more" than $5m-$7m estimates from a prior study last decade.

But... "How much this is going to cost and who’s going to pay for it remain to be determined." Wynn, however, has agreed to pitch in some, according to Gaming Commission.

FWIW the North Bank bridge (over the tracks next to the Zakim) cost $9.5M 5 years ago. This seems like a roughly analogous project

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

I believe the Mayor of Everett has completely change the landscape of what Everett was forever.

Could Everett become like Monte Carlo in the future? There is so much money in around Boston I believe Everett, Chelsea, Revere, Malden, Medford--
Just look at Somerville, Cambridge, Allston, Dorchester Southie.
Its over for the Poor and the Middleclass in these areas. Real Estate will always be pricey in these areas now. Boston is Rich or Richer.

Gentrification. : the process of renewal and rebuilding accompanying the influx of middle-class or affluent people into deteriorating areas that often displaces poorer residents.

It doesn't help Interest rates haven't gone up in 10 years which keep property values inflated also.

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Wow great pictures. Thanks guys, that really gave a great view of where we stand with this thing right now. How many floors and how tall is this going to be again?

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Wow, this thing is flying. It looks awfully wide. Is it possible that it will be more wide and squat than in the renders and models?

Re: Wynn Everett Casino | Everett

Na this is going to look just like it does in the renders and models. These are wide buildings, just like in Las Vegas. Many casinos use huge floor plans like this, its nothing new. The buildings in Vegas are just as wide and they still look fine. It still has a good amount to go as well so as it gets taller it will look less and less squat. Its going to look like it does in the renders and in Las Vegas for the most part so that means pretty good, at least I think they do. Wynn is known for delivering high quality. No need to worry just sit back and watch it rise and it will even out along with the crown being added on top as well.

Just scroll up a little bit to the picture of the Wynn in Vegas I posted. Thats basically what were getting here. You can see its still pretty wide there as well, but its tall enough to look good, and look like casinos look.

I think you're looking at the wrong Facebook page. Wynn Boston Facebook has been engaging its followers pretty well, actually, since it got started. They've had a dozen posts in the last month alone, and already 10,000+ followers.
