Encore Boston Harbor Casino | 1 Broadway | Everett

I designed 2 million sf of space at the Bethlehem Casino, [/url]

If you were involved in creating SteelStacks then I applaud you sir. This is such a cool use of those structures. In another world, Everett would have been an ideal location for an "industrial" theme casino that would have better fit with its surroundings. However, that is not Wynn's strategy

This concept--"industrial" theme casino-- could have been perfection regarding Everett's fabric and overall history.

Having grown up in Bethlehem for 18 years, I couldn't agree more. The project was an excellently executed program on innovation (for an old steel town needing a boost of new energy) and preservation.

I think the originally approved MGM proposal was the best of the various Massachusetts proposals with its attractive glass hotel tower and creative preservation, reuse and emulation of the older buildings on the city block.

And actually the New Bedford waterfront casino proposal was pretty good like that with creative reuse of the Cannon St power station on the waterfront.

I've hoped that if Wynn/Encore is very successful in Everett that perhaps at some point they could buy out the older part of the power plant across Alford St on the waterfront and expand their hotel/casino/mixed use foot print reusing some portion of the old brick industrial power plant.

But that would likely have to be another billion dollar project or at least in the high hundreds of millions considering all the infrastructure for the old power plant that would have to get moved back towards the new plant.

Forgot to mention: every single construction fencing banner and banners around Everett were changed to say "Encore" Boston Harbor merely hours after the name change announcement was made "official." It's like Wynn never happened. And it's not a T-like sticker fix either. They literally printed dozens of new massive fencing banners. That's probably what they were doing in the period between the "rumored" name change and the "official" change.

Looks like this is topped off, steel for the crown is up

Yeah the contour map for Robbins Farm (in Arlington, where I assume the photos were shot) shows ranging between 310-320 feet in elevation. The casino tops out at 350' apparently (and it's basically at sea level), and it looks like the vantage point is 3-4 floors below the crown...

Just realized from that picture that one side of the hotel has city views and the other side has ocean views. Really amazing that guests have two really good options.
Can't get that in Vegas.

With sports betting now set to be legalized (or at least on the path). This property has become perhaps the most anticipated in the commonwealth.

I assume they will pivot to add an entire new area to the casino.
