Forecaster Building Addition |121-127 Portland Street | West End

Is this being funded with spare change they find behind the couch?

Seems the place will be crawling with workers for days at a time and then nothing for a few days, then everybody is back, etc...

This probably belongs elsewhere, but does anyone know of any plans to redesign all of the adjacent streets in this area? I know causeway will eventually get redone, but the whole govt center area - especially along merrimac and congress - really is the worst part of the whole city. New chardon at merrimac is the most needlessly massively wide intersection... So much could be done with the roads around here.

Agreed, and while I'm in this thread, I'd like to see some of the empty parking lots in the Bulfinch triangle that are currently used as parking lots get redeveloped.

Theres one on the west side of Lancaster street where both adjacent buildings have blank brick walls, so you wouldn't be covering up any windows. The other side of Lancaster has a couple of lots as well.

The lot on Friend st. near the New Chardon/Merrimac intersection is pretty big, and theres another couple of decent sized lots further north on Friend St.

That neighborhood will potentially be booming once the other projects in the area are finished, seems like a no brainer to me. I can't imagine they're making more from parking than they would from housing or office buildings. Seems strange to me that no one has done anything with these yet.

A single window has been installed.
EDIT: never mind. It is visible in the picture from June above.

Seriously, this project started about a year before One Canal and at this rate probably won't finish until One Canal is fully built and occupied.

How complex could this project be?

I like how the crane is inside the shell

What exactly is happening with this building again?

Update!

First listing hit the sales market today. This is a sixth-floor unit with ~958-square feet of space, listed at $856,000, or $893 per square foot. There are just two artists' renderings of the interior.

It's listed as having "two bedrooms". The listing says each faces an interior "sun atrium".

Completion date: 2016, according to the listing, and there are 80 units in the building, total.

This new construction condo lives large with an internal sun atrium separating two large bedrooms, each with juliette balconies. Master bedroom is set back off the front of the building for the ultimate retreat setting and includes en suite master bathroom and walk-in closet. Open concept living space is west-facing with large windows and pleasing views. Forecaster 121 is a new construction condominium building located in the Bulfinch Triangle at the intersection of the North End, Beacon Hill, Faneuil Hall, and just steps to the new Boston Public Market. The building features 24/7 concierge, fitness studio, and the Bulfinch Room for meetings and gatherings. Deeded valet garage parking and deeded storage available. Validated parking available for showings.

Where's the parking?

The ground floor has a garage, IIRC. Originally was supposed to have a car elevator and the garage stretched multiple levels...

Edit: yeah, mmm, look at that giant garage sacrificing the retail that was permitted...

It astonishes me how people plan these parking layouts. Looks impossible to get cars in and out in either scheme.
