Four Seasons Tower @ CSC | 1 Dalton Street | Back Bay

This has been a long time coming and now it’s here: The 742-foot Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences One Dalton Street—a.k.a. One Dalton—is scheduled to officially top off on August 7.

The 61-story spire is the tallest new tower in Boston since 200 Clarendon opened in 1976. It’s also the city’s third-tallest building.

And, due to myriad reasons that include construction costs, a dearth of sites, and shadows, One Dalton will likely be the last Boston tower—the last New England tower—of more than 700 feet for a long, long while.

One Dalton is due to include 215 Four Seasons hotel rooms that the international hospitality firm will manage and 160 luxury condos (which Four Seasons will also service).

Man thats unfortunate to read. Especially with 115 Winthrop being approves to 725. Hell SST and winthrop sq are both what 690ish, still pretty close. Still shoulda went the whole way on the winthrop tower, we not only could have broke 700, but twice in 5 years. MT, 1 Dalton, Winthrop sq, and SST should all still be right around 700’ within 10 years of eachother.... 10 years because of SST but who the hell knows...still.

Very nice ^ the sky was awesome tonight > Boston’s newest tall a slanted pole ha ha

Great shots everyone! I'm flying to Boston this week and can't wait to see this in person. I think this, along with Filene's Tower are the most exciting Boston towers of my lifetime...after seeing so many crummy buildings go up in the past, it's great to see some real gems go up this development cycle.

Its cool that from a lot of angles it looks taller than the Pru, regardless of the official height.

So from an observation I take it that the balconies at the top have the floors built out the same but instead of putting the glass on the exterior they'll just install the glass recessed from the floor plate and use the existing floors as the balconies? It seems like it or we would notice a difference in some of the upper floors, unless Im missing something.

It looks like at the very top all that will change is one floor plate is missing between two of the very upper floors starting right at the mech crown on each side at the very top. So once we see this well know its essentially finished besides the crown. I don't see it yet though. Theres 12 floors of balconies on each side and in the construction pics I see 11 floors I can count so this should be starting very soon.

Yup once we see it skip a floor plate well know that all we have left is the crown. I dont see it yet so either its under the yellow awning or it will be at the level of the topped off core then the crown will rise above that.

Is there any chance the spire or antenna (documented in the FAA height specifications) will be considered as structural height to make 1Dalton the tallest building in the city? A stretch, I know, but Indianapolis’s Salesforce top floor is 625 and their roof ornament brings it higher than Boston. Looks nothing more than a set of poles similar to the Pru’s antenna..
