MA Casino Developments

Sounds about right.... when I did the Bethlehem project, it was 2 million square feet, a million of that was the parking garage.

Better than acres of surface lots like in the woods of CT.

I'm not sure how to post pics... there was another Wynn press conference yesterday, new renderings release of the Winter Garden and a highly-detailed model were released.

I work in media so I get the news alerts and updates. I also don't know if anybody has noticed, but this tower has gotten slimmer and taller from when the first renderings were released. Also, the corners are now glass. It's a much different building than the one that was originally released to the media.

Wowza!

Somebody better call the Department of Transporation and asked them what solutions do they have when a casino gets built in Everett.

Because this billion dollar casino affects everybody on the North Shore 93 Grid.

Would like to know how deep Wynn pockets will go to transform the area into good traffic flow. 500Million minimum

Correct. He used the same color for his project(s) in Macau.

If Wynn gets the nod, depending on how they orient the hotel, it could potentially have some amazing reflections of the Boston skyline. That glass he uses looks amazing in real life.

The MWRA wind turbine, merely a couple hundred feet away, was sinking into the ground back when it was sitting still for months on end. It was eventually fixed, but I am interested as to whether Wynn has to do any significant engineering to put a tower up, or if his team will make the same mistakes the MWRA's contractor did.

The ground floor of the model looks terrific but the tower has an unattractive 80's vibe. It looks like it should be out by O'Hare.

Dubai called and said please keep this POS, we don't want it back.

I'm not a fan either. Then again, I tend to find most casino towers have a weird late 70s vibe.

Over the top Rat Pack. Like. Would much prefer Everett though to look more like the Vegas Wynn Encore or the Taunton proposal.

What a novel idea. Putting it on a ballot and letting the residents decide.
I'd say they want it.

I haven't been following the casino development all that much...are they expected to give a lot of cash to the community?

Nanny-State jibes aside, it doesn't feel good to be right about this, AFL.

I'm actually with you BB regarding gambling. I think that states legalizing casinos is an obvious "race to the bottom". Very similar to a specialized tax credit (movies in Mass, gaming in RI, etc.) but with 1,000,000x the negative externalities.

But unfortunately the people of the state have spoken regarding legalizing casinos. And the people of Everett have spoken overwhelmingly. I'm not happy about it - I live just off 99 in Charlestown.
