Marriott Moxy Hotel | 240 Tremont Street (Parcel P-7A) | Theater District

I know it's not this building exactly but the W across the street looks like it is getting a huge sign added to it just over the side walk. Hopefully some more light and neon down here.

I heard they bought the W sign at a steep discount from Wynn who is selling off its sign letters one by one that were supposed to go on top of the casino. Now, who needs a Y and a couple of N's?!

An electronic sign will wrap around the corner of the building and be visible from Stuart and Tremont Streets, mimicking Time Square signs in New York City. The sign will include an 8-by-17-foot video display on the second level above the building's corner entrance. The video display will be available for commercial sponsorship and a portion of the proceeds will go to the BRA for a Theater District Improvement Fund to pay for streetscape and upkeep of the neighborhood.

how much of this kool stuff are they still doing??

Stuart st is really coming into its own. Hopefully one day sst is at the very end.

This is such a hugely important piece for this neighborhood. I wonder what it would take for Tufts to do something with that dead wall next door. I'm assuming that's the hospitals power plant in that white building? Probably not much that can be done there sadly. Some interesting street art would go a long way though.

Dead wall next door is not Tufts. That is the backstage area of the Wang Theatre.

Since the wall is likely to remain for the foreseeable future, it seems like a great place for some additional electronic/LED signage. It would enliven the dead wall and might even provide some additional revenue for the theatre.

+1

Well, most of that wall will be visibly well shrouded from pedestrians.

Get some artists up there in any case.

I'm sitting in the panera bread across the corner from this and they are currently installing that platform style construction scaffolding around the base of the core which has the forms removed.

I was planning on giving up on this forum but this is just too much fun to watch. I'm going to stick to the mid-rise theater related developments for now. I'm opening shows at the Huntington and the Shubert over the next two weeks so I'll ask the people that work here for the dirt on the developments.

Really, this is the building that keeps you here? No here interest in 1 Dalton, Hub on Causeway, Wynn Casinos, or the MXD Office Tower at 145 Broadway? (ie no interest in the 4 tallest, highest impact buildings U/C in the area?)
