Thank God Menino gave them Tax Breaks to get this project started. What would we have done not to make these Millionaires into Billionaires.

Let's avoid the political chat, shall we?

In the meantime, it's great to see that these units are being moved so well before the building is even close to completion. Downtown Crossing is going to be a totally different place in the next couple of years.

Look out for some residential towers coming off the back burners in DTX soon.

Wasn't there supposed to be one where the Payless currently stands? Maybe it will come back with a substantial height increase. Everything else is these days! These 2 buildings would be mighty close though.

Yes, I think you are referring to the One Bromfield project proposal. Initially proposed in 2008, but on hold. 28 Stories, 260 apartments.

In 2012 the developer, Midwood Management, said that they were waiting to see how the Millennium Tower project sold.

Should be about time for them to resurface.

Yea, the fact that they're already 33% pre-sold 2 years before completing the tower is impressive. And to think, a short couple of years ago we watched 45 Province struggle to sell anything. Now, as far as I can see, that's 100% sold and people are clawing to get into the area. What a difference a few years can make.

As others have stated, I hope they dont tear down that payless building. Also, I want DTX to change and get better but I don't want to completely sterilize the whole area. The area should retain some of the color it used to have and has still: I don't need another Newbury St.

I actually really miss the Bookstore Washington Street now occupied by Walgreens.

True...the bookstore was cool. I liked seeing them set up outside when the weather was nice. The Walgreens is pretty cool though too.

Don't worry too much about DTX becoming Newbury Street. Many cities tend to retain junky mass-market commercial areas in the tourist and transportation center, even when real estate gets super-expensive and luxury starts popping up all around. Times Square, Oxford Street - or for that matter nearly every High Street in nearly every posh mid-sized British town - all fit this pattern.

Is that far of a stretch to assume this will be 80%+ sold before it even opens?

Looks like this place, when completed, will be a very swank, posh & elite residence for the filthy rich & famous!!

Too fast for me!! Hah!!

Has this hit its one year mark of work yet? I cannot remember the actual date the project started up again.

I think that it was last summer when the groundbreaking ceremony was held. Mayor Thomas M. Menino had attended the event. There was confetti tossed in the air.

Yes, I believe that it WAS last year, so it has been a little over a year now. Looks like quite a bit has been accomplished since then!
