MIT East Campus - Kendall Square Gateway | Cambridge

Definitely need to distinguish between MITIMCo and MIT.

The former's architectural record is far worse. The latter has some true bright spots on its (and as recently as the superb MIT.nano).
 
The formwork for the core of Building 1 (next to One Broadway) is going up.
 
Per coUrbanize, there's a meeting regarding the continuation of the existing Ames Street 2-way protected bike lane (between Broadway and Main Street) all the way to the river (by way of an improved intersection at Memorial Drive—sorely needed):

Join MIT, Cambridge’s Traffic and Parking Department, and the State Department of Conservation and Recreation for a community meeting about Ames Street. We’ll share plans for:

a two-way protected bike facility on the east side of Ames Street, from Main Street to Memorial Drive,
and an improved crossing at the intersection of Ames Street and Memorial Drive.

These changes are conditions of a MIT Cambridge Planning Board Special Permit, as traffic mitigation for the MIT Kendall Square at MIT project. The new facilities will improve safety for people walking, biking, and driving in the area. This meeting is an opportunity for you to review and ask questions about the plans before they are implemented.

A nicely evolving cluster of towers and density. Bonus points for its focus on research and knowledge advancement.
 
This, Google and Volpe redevelopment are going to keep things evolving and moving forward in Kendall for the next ten years at least. Going to be cool to see.
 
Saw this for the first time in a while last night while coming across the Mass Ave bridge and it struck me how much it feels like Kendall is really growing in with a high cluster, especially with all the cranes at heights that break the plateau set by the Marriott, Proto, new Akamai HQ, and Broad Institute's newest buildings. It's going to look so much more 'flat' when the cranes come down...

While it's bulking up impressively, the skyline view is going to take quite a hit when they raze Eastgate for a short, squat cube. That's the best proportioned building in the city! (of Cambridge)
 
Any news on Building 1 "NoMa?"

It looks like an attractive 275'ish high a/r apt tower in the render.

Hoping that the tallest building at old Volpe is going to provide a bit of a crown for Kendall Square in 5 to 7 years.
