One Canal (formerly Greenway Center) | Bullfinch Triangle | West End

So, the warehouse look was intentional?

If it wasn't intentional, then I'm guessing it had the unintentionally pleasing consequence for the developer of appeasing whatever West End/Bulfinch Triangle community activists/preservationist powerbrokers there are who have probably become progressively alarmed/aroused by the ongoing eclipse of the pre-WWII warehouse buildings by the post-2010 development boom.

But my bet is that it was deliberate, and the local community preservation honchos clucked appreciatively and murmured, "my my, what a tasteful and respectful homage to the prevailing historic building style in the Bulfinch Triangle: let's give these guys preferential treatment vs. all other developers when it comes to the next development free-for-all sweepstakes down here."

Or maybe not...

Do we know if any retail has signed on to this?

@617
There hasn't been anything I've heard around the North End. At one point in the Supermarket Saga, this was going to be the location. That was before the new Garden building agreed to sign one on, but who knows - maybe another could go in here? Personally, I think the area could support one of the new small format Roche Bros or large format Walgreens (a la the DTX mega-greens) on top of a full scale Shaws/S&S/etc.

They're taking there sweet time putting the facade up on this one.

I get the feeling they got their shipment of red paneling, yellow paneling, and glass, but have yet to receive their big box of grey and green facade, which-- by the renders-- will cover the remaining portions of the building.

It's definitely been a slow march to the finish line. 10 days out from BeeLine's latest pics and I don't see any visible changes from my desk. My angle from 255 State makes it feel like it's going that much slower because I've got Avalon North Station shooting up out of the ground immediately next to One Canal.

Any thoughts on them trying to delay the open date as much as possible so that perspective buyers see more of a neighborhood with nearing a more complete Avalon NS and Lovejoy Wharf?

Delay could be a possibility, but I don't think anyone in this market is worried about sales, especially near downtown.

Both Avalon and One Canal are apartment complexes, but if we edit your question I think it's an interesting POV. But, I don't think that those projects are influencing One Canal.

This is a holy-mess. I will hold off until complete ... but Yikes.

Holding final judgement till the end, but I think it would have been a lot more successful if the window bumpouts lined up to play on Boston's traditional bay window vernacular.

Theres not really any surprises here its going to look like this. Which I think will be fine.

Are they still able to do panels or do they have to resort to actual masonry work in situ?
