How's this for bland?

When I worked in that area, I really enjoyed going there to look at the water. In warm weather it is quite busy with shoppers and office workers.

Don't get me wrong -- it looks great, but where are the food vendors and other retailers that would attract people? Oh wait...there's a mall 50 yards away...

And that mall food court opens right onto this space. (Just to the right of the photo, out of view.) On the other hand, when someone tried opening a Pizzeria Uno next door to the food court, also adjoining this space, it didn't last more than a year or two. Restaurants and bars at One Canal Park (behind the camera) also ultimately failed, and their first-floor space was eventually converted to offices.

Nice pics, different angles. I took a piss in the second photo last week. But I gotta say that third pic isn't up to your usual sick picture taking.

Yeah, I hate to be critical, but it looks hazy. Could have been a smoggy day. I do like the perspective though. Just barely enough drama. I think it might just be the lack of anything going on in the shot - more a problem with the place than the photographer.

That third one came out a bit unfocused for some reason, so I messed with the colors to go for a more ethereal, faded look. I probably shoulda posted it at a smaller size, as I think those quirks work with the picture rather than against it like at full size.

So is this more effective, or is it a lost cause? :)

Bonus seaport shot!

That second shot makes me want to go sailing so badly. Those cargo cranes always reminded me of AT-ATs from Star Wars.

Continuing the trip through Ft. Point / Seaport...

^ Best photo 2010? I love how the cladding on Atlantic Wharf is exactly halfway up - a perfect snapshot of a specific moment in time, adding action and intrigue into the shot. Perfect imho.

What a nice coincidence my trip to the seaport yesterday makes with the current theme of this thread. Here's some of the highlights, and you can find all of yesterday's pics at my Flickr photostream.

Of course the most intimately-scaled street within a half-mile radius is given over to nothing but vehicles:

This massive building next to the Northern Ave. bridge is almost done being renovated:

And the holdout that used to have the yellow "hardware" paint job is being gutted:

Here's another B&W...
