Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown

I'm getting nervous! Where's the damn iron??? If they stop work we'll have an airport control tower stuck in the middle of Chinatown!!! :)

If that happens just tell people thats what it is and make it into an attraction. :D
(please understand this is a joke)

Do you think I can get my queen-sized bed, and my sofa into the place?? lol

Seriously, cool shots!

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown

Aaaannnd then the economy retanked and this was left as an urban anomaly.

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown

The forms are gone, so the core has topped, right?

The proportions here really appeal to me. It's a pity that such a wider tower is going in without being taller.

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown

I counted 26 floors ^ the thread says 29?

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown

29 was the original plan

29 was the original plan

Floor count in marketing promos is rarely accurate to the physical number of floors. For example, One57 in NYC is actually a 75-story tower, but is being marketed as 90+.

For this, the ground will probably be L, and then maybe M above, then 5-29 in the elevators. Presto! 29 floor building.

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown

I'm just going by this stuff, could be wrong.

"Dainty Dot building owner plans 29-story high rise, March 19th, 2007"

"Builder Ori Ron is weighing plans to drop the height of his proposed 350-foot tower at the site of the historic Dainty Dot building to roughly 300 feet or below, according to an official briefed on the changes." Chinatown tower plan may shrink By Scott Van Voorhis Friday, October 5, 2007

Chinatown tower plan moves ahead Dainty Dot building to make way for housing, restaurant, parking Casey Ross, 2010.

"After years of delay, the developer of a 26-story tower at the edge of Chinatown said he will begin construction next year, replacing the vacant Dainty Dot building between Chinatown and the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway." and continues to describe the final height as 270 (also noted in the notice of project change)

Re: 120 Kingston, 29 Story Tower in Chinatown

Parking garage floors still count as floors. As do mechanical-equipment floors. Are these the source of the discrepancies you are referring to?

Ah, well there's the answer. It was slashed down to 26.
