Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

Unless there is a sudden economic downturn that leaves us with a hole in the ground, then typically the construction follows the demolition immediately. The question here is what is the target demolition date?

what's that expression about even a broken clock being accurate twice a day....? :)

You pretty much got it. Of course, they are only talking about the old school type clocks being stopped, stuck at the same time, hence the twice a day thing. If it's a broken digital clock, it would be accurate 0 times a day. If it's an old clock that runs fast, it again might not be accurate at all on any given day.

And if the clock reads a forum post but misses the ellipses and smiley indicating sarcasm, then it might answer a rhetorical question.

What can I say? It's a saying that has always oh so slightly bothered me. Maybe the clock is broken because somebody ripped the hands off it. Maybe it's broken because the explosives strapped to it went off and blew it to pieces. A broken clock doesn't have to be right any time of day, ever. :)

DZH -- it depends on how its broken -- if it has no power and its LED or LCD well OK no display

However, if its a digitally driven clock with a mechanical display it can still be right 2X in 24

Finally if its any type of digital and the display is functioning -- well it could be a relevant display or not depending on the type of display and the type of malfunction -- e.g. a non-battery back-up digital with LED/LCD display after a power outage -- it might be stuck on all 00 [midnight] and hence right 1X in 24 or it might start counting at some random time in which case very unlikely to be right until reset

....."And Now for something completely different> --- a tower in the Back Bay

Thanks Whig for making virtually the exact same point DZ made but 4 hours later and less concisely. Your streak remains intact (not withstanding the lack of Wikipedia references that could further derail the thread) .

Does anyone have any history of what happened to the application for demolition? Not seeing much on boston.gov or any news source.

Have not seen any movement on this, and know someone involved in the investment that claims "it's still going up." Snarled in bureaucracy indeed.

Assuming that's true... it's conceivable Copley, Trinity and JHT Part III could all be rising around the same time.

Crane row!

According to the Boston Common Hotel & Conference Center website, they are taking reservations through the end of 2015. If you enter a 2016 date into the reservation request system, it gets rejected... I think that is what is supposed to demo'd?

Believe it or not there is news about this project. IAG meeting next week Feb 2 6:30-7:30pm

Description:
40 Trinity Place is a proposed 31-story building with approximately 154 hotel rooms, approximately 146 residential units, and ground floor restaurant/retail space.

This meeting is to discuss the proposed Notice of Project Change related to: (1) moving the parking off-site, (2) decreasing the number of hotel rooms to add additional ownership opportunity, and (3) modifications to the inclusionary development program.

Please note that the purpose of this meeting is different than that of a traditional community meeting. As part of the development review process, Impact Advisory Group (IAG) members work closely with BRA staff to identify the impacts of a project and recommend appropriate community benefits to offset those impacts. IAG meetings prioritize discussion between the project proponent (i.e. the developer) and IAG members. If time remains at the end of the meeting, BRA staff will open the floor to other community members in attendance.
