Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Ok gotta admit that made me laugh pretty hard. I suppose the passage of time tints one's memories.
I must admit to not having been to Sligo's in probably 10+ years.

I guess, though, that it wouldn't be a horrible thing if the Seaport lightened up a bit and didn't take itself so seriously (but within reason) : )

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Did you guys notice they've "coned off" the entire median strip from Envoy/the church all the way down toward the Equinox temporary building? Maybe beginning work on the grass median?

I noticed that over the weekend before the 4th and figured that it was being done as part of some event, like a run for example. If it's still coned off, then we can certainly hope it's for the grass median!

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Also on Congress next to M parcels, oddly.

yup, office for rent on craigslist haha.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Really? Rent? Size? Curious.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Anyone know what's going on with Northern Avenue in front of Gather and the Memorial Park? The sidewalk is fenced off and dug up. Signage points to "upgrades" but I have no idea what that means. Are they reducing lanes? Wasn't able to snap a photo.

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Touche. I ask because it looks, to put it kindly, very modest...

listings on craigslist vary from $1500-$2400/month; no detail there about SF you get for those prices and the pictures in the listings are all identical, but it's a data point.

Interesting. Thank you.

I cant find it again but I remember I clicked because it was really cheap I wanna say $800 but not 100% on that. Then I saw why it was so cheap but it wouldn't be a bad little space for an internet startup company looking for a physical address.

I don't think I saw this New York Times real estate article on the seaport posted. If I missed it, mods you can delete.

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/15/...edCoverage&region=EndOfArticle&pgtype=article

Highlights GE, MIT's Center for Real Estate, and Skanska.

Mr. Hurley [Skanska] cited the infrastructure developments in the Seaport and the strength of the existing Fort Point neighborhood, home to many artists, as catalysts for the investment by Skanska, which is based in Sweden.

“If you walk around Fort Point, at least 80 percent of those old buildings have been repositioned to new residential, retail, office, but it’s kept the historic nature of the area,” he said. “Those people are the anchor for the seaport. We’re building off of that. It’s a great juxtaposition of old versus new.”

“G.E. is buying into a culture that they want their employees to be a part of.”

Same thing why Aetna chose to move to Chelsea in NYC. It's like the Bachelor and these CT companies have to choose which one to pick. Menino was smart to encourage modern office spaces and cultures to prosper in Boston. In fact it's NYC trying to play catch up here!

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport

Just got to take a meeting at 101 Seaport. I still think it is a quality piece of work. There are some shortfalls but all in all its good thing.

From Bostonplans.org

This is cool because right as you enter the seaport over the bridge on summer st youll now be able to easily take a right and go a short distance up haul road before arriving at northern ave.

Looking down Congress st. This is one view I have tried to imagine in my head many times as I was coming into the neighborhood. Going to look great.

Congress St with Seaport Square in the background behind M parcels and a few other buildings on the left

W/ Sausage parcel (399 Congress)
