The Beverly (née Merano) (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

Re: The Merano (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

Big luncheon/event over there today. Topping off ceremony?

Looked that way on Tuesday

Man its great seeing the west end come together. Were a city full of great neighborhoods and this was really the last downtown neighborhood that needed a big make over. Im extremely pleased with all of the projects so far theyre making a real effort to make quality, engaging decelopments. Its still getting better with each new development and given the cards they were dealt theyre really pulling it off. You really cant fix the gated community part but the rest of it is truly going to be a nice place to be. I cant wait to see how the rest of it turns out.

True. The street level is so good, NBC keeps running the overhead shot of the Greenway.

I don't recall ever seeing this render before (from Curbed) including the Courtyard Marriot signage:

That sign is going to be so prominent from the Zakim. I don't love it...

Agreed. We have several lousy hotel signs that are very prominent on our skyline. If the letters were softly backlit, it would be OK.

Re: The Merano (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

reduce the obnoxious Courtyard logo to 150% of the size of "Marriot."

Re: The Merano (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

Does anyone know whether the sign depicted in the rendering has actually been approved? It is possible that the actual approved signage will differ from what is shown. Of course, it is also possible that it will not.

Re: The Merano (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

All signage has to be approved by the Urban Design team at the BPDA. If y'all are truly curious, it might be worthwhile to send them an email and ask- I don't believe the signage process is as open to the public.

Everyone here should do that... In general I think we're too restrictive on signs (anti-neon, etc).. this sign might look better as neon but as it appears now, the font and general look is tacky and cheap and screams "cheap establishment"... NOT what should be seen from the Zakim.

Re: The Merano (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

Is this ahead of schedule? I remember thinking the projected completion date was way in the future. Or maybe I'm just getting old and my perception of time is getting distorted.

Re: The Merano (Parcels 1B & 1C) | Bulfinch Triangle | West End

Does anyone know what the deal is with haverhill st next to the victor? That has to be the most barren wasteland of a street in the whole city. Theres always people there because they're going other places, but theres minimal retail and not a single tree. I get that the garages have to go somewhere, but nobody could have thought to plant a tree? Theres no reason that they couldn't have planted a couple trees on this street to at least make it look better on the eye, it almost hurts to walk down it. Its just garage doors, concrete, and an mbta entrance.

Yeah it's essentially a service alley. Ironically, if you up there are actually some robust trees planted on top of the garage.

Would be great if it could somehow be re-purposed as a bus loading area for NS (its astounding that neither NS nor SS have anything like a proper bus drop off btw). It plays that function now especially for private seaport buses and once the underground passage is reopened it could be a legit 'busport'
