Anybody know whats going in next to George Howell in the new hotel's first floor in DTX? The decor theyre putting up in there looks pretty crazy... looks like some kind of restaurant space
It's the sister restaurant to Yvonne's. It's absolutely stunning in there - should be opening in the next few weeks according to Godfrey staff.

Totally agree. The Godfrey lobby feels unnatural and temporary due to that blank wall on the left side - of course I knew it was temporary, but nonetheless the flow/energy just wasn't quite right (despite me being a big fan of this development in general). I think when the restaurant opens we'll finally get a sense of this development's real impact on the street scene. The restaurant's big windows to the street help too (I hope they don't keep drapes drawn, and suspect they won't).
From the outside it looks like they have wooden blinds up about 8 ft from the ground and then you can see the ceiling at thats it from the street.... Yvonnes is a very secretive elite type of vibe so I would suspect it will be same here and the blinds will be closed at all times.
I suspect there will be long lines at night (after 8pm) to get into this new hotspot and will be empty during the day. Yvonne's doesnt even open till 5 or so.

I made the mistake of cutting through yeaterday. What a flustercuck. It makes a supermarket before thanksgiving look downright civil. The egress aisles are WAY too small, I felt like I was trying to get from one end of a rush hour T station to the other
Haha, the wife and I actually walked over from the Comm Ave lightening ceremony to check it out. As we were going down Bolyston I said I bet this is going to be a cluster fuck (we were thinking of getting a bite to eat for dinner), she thought it would be fine. Guess who won? Hint: we didn't eat at Eataly.
It also seemed a lot smaller than the NYC one. Wasn't there going to be a second floor or something ?
There is going to be a third floor (two are already open - a small area on the first floor and a large area area on the second), but it is not open yet. Another sit-down restaurant named Terra will be located on the third level. In total, Italy will have 45,000 square feet of space when fully operational. For comparison purposes, the original New York city location was just over 50,000 square feet.
See, in interesting. We entered directly from the mall and I couldn't, for the life of me figure out how to get to the second floor (it looked still under construction from the windows you could see into). I am now thinking - was I already on the second floor? was there a lower/first floor at street level or something? I walked over there and say the escalators down, but they looked like they just went out the door (and the signs by them said pretty much the same thing). Perhaps the other level I saw was the one that would become the 3rd then? Either way, the area I was in (I guess the main/second floor) seemed pretty small vs NYC's.
I thought this was supposed to have a roof deck beer garden like nyc...saw nothing about when I strollled through.
