Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I'll echo what I said upthread, which was told to me by someone who's affiliated with the building. The full cladding was installed (as we can see from the photos), but there was an accident where a construction vehicle struck the column, causing it either to collapse or be sufficiently damaged and unstable that it had to be taken down completely. Haven't heard any updates on repair timelines.

Both pix are great, but that first is something special. Nicely done!

Currently in final steps for a role at Winthrop Sq with Millenium. Got an exclusive tour and let me tell you, this place is incredibly impressive.

(this is from that area at the top that almost looks like it would be for a massive projector at a the movies. It's actually a massive bar and residential space.

Hello, I'm a new arrival on this site after lurking for a while. Gunner02, impressive indeed! I would love to spend some time on that terrace on a summer day taking in those spectacular urban views. I find Winthrop Center to be a more aesthetically pleasing building than I had anticipated according to the renderings and what I had seen of the construction sight before I left Boston a few years ago. I recall it went through a few iterations (one of them hideous) before the developers and the city settled on a plan that seemed to me to shoehorn itself into this oddly shaped parcel. I was hoping for a svelte, soaring tower and the proposal looked like a awkward stack of tall boxes with a conical attachment on top of the Federal Street side. Now that it's completed (without that cylindrical wing), It looks like an elegant cousin to the nearby Millennium Tower. I like the play of light and texture on the glassy, pleated façade and the interest it adds to the street wall. I realize the lobby/connector space is generally considered a disappointment among forum members, but for someone who does not work there or live in one of the residences, I see an attractive addition to the downtown cityscape. I hope to do a walk-by pass through next time I'm in town.
