Winthrop Square Garage Demolition | Downtown

because it's not a particularly residential area and doing demo at night is actually less obtrusive and disruptive than doing it during the day in a busy business district.

Copley Tower makes a thin but significant shadow that rapidly glides over Copley Square making stops at Trinity Church, Old South Church, BPL, and the green patch........ The height and massing was quietly Grandfathered about 3 years ago.

Something could very well get done here someday.

This thread is pretty funny. The other one got closed so someone made a thread about the "garage demo" lol so we can have the exact same conversation over here n it works because people want to talk about this tower...

Came across this picture but they used some old renders plus *RIP Copley. Either way sort of cool. This tower is now shorter than 1 Dalton and they used Accordia here plus the heights seem exaggerated between buildings but whatever still cool to look at them next to each other. Not sure why they exaggerated everything so much but whatever don't take the heights at face value.

Looks like they mistakenly assumed the Pru's height was to the top of the antenna instead of the roof. That is why it looks so wonky.

So basically what you are saying is that whoever created this has never actually been to Boston before.

Maybe that, or maybe they don't know much about how buildings are measured and made a mistaken assumption. It appears they trusted the numbers over their own eyes.

If you happen to catch any NIMBY's outside of the construction area openly weeping at the destruction of their beloved garage, please feel free to post those pictures too. ;)

Still 100’+ taller than the preg building which should look impactul...curious to see th new renders

Get permitting for 702' and while the tower is in the process of going u/c to after construction begins, hit up FAA/Massport for an extra 15'......

Really, if it ends up 10 feet below FAA limits, I still think we spike the football and say FU to all NIMBY's. :D

The only place in Boston where a parking lot would be an improvement.
