Boston Bombing Memorial | Boylston St | Back Bay

That is waaaaay too esoteric. I'm glad to have read the description, because these things look like tendrils constraining the light...which is probably not the message they'd hope to convey. And having read the description, I still don't get it. Martin's Park in the Seaport is a much better...

Matthew - I too live north of Boston - not far from Padre and can attest to what he's saying: the routes north of Boston are nothing like what you experienced on Brighton Ave yesterday. All the major routes surrounding both of the proposed casinos are brutal during rush hours. Routes 1A, 99...

South End Infill and Small Developments

^^^The "Zero" in Zero Worcester must refer to the amount of thought that went into the design of that kitchen. a) the cabinet space is seriously lacking - limited solely to upper/hard-to-reach cabinets. b) the stove is located without any buffer between it and circulation and/or living...

Avalon Exeter | 77 Exeter Street | Back Bay

There are many fine qualities in the design of this building. Two things that I appreciate: a) how the texture of the precast [unfortunately the aforementioned texture is invisible in this picture] complements the texture of the facade of Lenox; and b) the Lenox now has a friend on Exeter St.

Where am I? The photo contest

Back Bay is correct - specifically, the Burrage House...corner of Comm and Hereford. I had heard a rumor once that a famous QB and his good looking wife lived there for a while.

Love the historical pics, whighlander! Merry Christmas from Jordan Marsh. I miss the days when you could actually say "Merry Christmas" on the street without worrying about offending someone. BTW: Merry Christmas

It's interesting to me that voters in the Commonwealth voted for casinos as well as for medical marijuana, but when it comes to locating either casinos or dispensaries in their own towns, the response: NFW. IMO both are bad ideas. So, at least for now, I can just sit back and chuckle at the...

The Godfrey (the boutique hotel coming to Washington & Temple). These are a great couple of buildings; such happy fabric (so to speak). I'm thrilled to see the renovation happening.

Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive - Parcel C | Seaport

Re: Twenty Two Liberty @ Fan Pier | 22 Liberty Drive | Seaport Sounds like a win-win, John. The view of the city from Fan Pier is fantastic. As a card carrying member of "the masses" who will never be able to afford a place at 22 Liberty, I for one am glad for that particular plot of...

Gender-Neutral Restrooms become law in Philly

I am struggling with the contradictory arguments now. On one hand we all need to get over hour hang-ups and have a kumbaya party in a single gender neutral bathroom; while on the other hand, we need to kowtow to a miniscule segment of the population and use taxpayer dollars to build them...

Gender-Neutral Restrooms become law in Philly

    A) a very vocal minority of the population declaring that a cow is now a sheep won't make it so. For the entire duration of humanity's existence, gender has been (and is still) defined by biology. Truth is not "Victorian". It just is. B) I cringe when my mother has to use the bathroom...

    Obama is a Failure!

Why do republicans hate Obama so much: because he's duplicitous. I was no fan of Bush, but at least you always knew what you were getting…as opposed to Obama who speaks as if he were some holy amalgamation of Ghandi, MLK, JFK, and [unfortunately] Margaret Sanger while his actions/decisions...

You can't read the text on the white sign on this box because of the glare, but it's a "little free library" ...cute idea. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is one title among "many."
