lynqueezy, in your last picture there, you can see how dirty some of the center panels are. I have a couple up close pictures of this i can upload as well. I ate lunch at whiskey priest yesterday and snapped a couple with my phone. They looked almost like rust, or exhaust. Does anyone know if this is from boats parked nearby? It seemed to only be that center strip. Are they going to have to paint these panels? Additionally, has anyone noticed similar dirtiness on Waterside place?

I've noticed the same brownish discoloration on the lower half panels of Avalon Exeter facing Shaw's (southern facade). It honestly looks like exhaust from all the truck traffic on Exeter Street stuck to the building and made it look ugly. Unless they plan on repainting a couple times a year, I can't think of a long term solution to avoid this if pollution is indeed the cause of these brownish stains on white facades.

The panels arrive on site discolored. We've had many a loooooooong discussion in the International Village thread (while ago) and Waterside Place thread about discolored precast panels.

If the boat I was on happened to be another 5-10 feet higher, I would have had a great view down into the Goodwin Proctor pit next door. Alas.

Meh, I liked this better when it was less complete. It's ok. The ribbon windows are a nice break in the grid.

100% agree. I remember that picture set I took back in May where everyone--myself included--was like "whoa!" and I no longer feel that way. It's nice...a bit above average but that's about it.

I got up close and personal with this building last night. The cladding has rust-colored stains all over it. The ribbed texture is lazy and repetitive. The glass is cheap looking. The massing is blocky. The window pattern is tacky and dated. I realize it comes down to personal opinion, but in my mind there is nothing right about this building.
Dare I say it - and I will - I actually think Waterside Place is a more sleek, more attractive building. Yikes. What did I just say?

Can we stop with the cheap white precast buildings here, we have a golden ticket here with acres upon acres of open space next to the urban core of the city and were not taking advantage of that at all.
