Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

Planners working on the Sullivan Sq project have said the reason for its slow progress is that market conditions aren't meriting a speedy build-out. Seems odd given situation at Assembly is chugging along. But then again the two sites are not apples to apples.

Big post from yesterday, starting from the T stop:

Considering only JP Licks and the theater were open, Assembly was PACKED yesterday.

The finishes are nice, but this building reminds me too much of a power center:

I think this building's my favorite so far:

The craftmanship and finishes are very good:

JP Licks was packed. I can't wait to see what this looks like with people living here:

Anyone know what these were originally for?

Went to the AMC in Assembly this weekend. It's all still being build, and store tenants moving in, so it definitely has a studio backlot feeling, but it really is an awesome development with a lot to offer. It's only what, 1/3 completed as designed, not considering any further buildout from the current MP.

Movie theater is cool. Plush leather seating, some of which recline. You book your seats ahead of time. Theaters only hold 125. Tickets seemed to be the normal Boston AMC rate. Food service is self serve and there's a bar, a cafe, and an ice cream counter aside from the normal movie theater offerings. Really enjoyed!

Thanks a lot for the photo tour Dave! Nice job covering the development and capturing certain moments. The level of detail and quality certainly shows.

Thanks for the theater report too, Busses.

Is there a tenant list available? The website only states "50 Premier Outlet stores". I think with it being this close to opening that there has to be something available.

This list is as-of last November:

AMC Theater
LOFT (Ann Taylor)
Brooks Brothers Factory Store
Burger Dive
Charlotte Russe
Chico’s
Claires
Converse
Earls Kitchen + Bar
Ernesto’s Pizza
Fuji
Hair Cuttery
J.P. Licks
Le Creuset
LEGOLAND Discovery Center
Legal C Bar
Luggage Factory
Nike
Papagayo
Paul Bakery
Saks Off 5th
Starbucks
Steve Madden
Tony C’s
Wilsons

Here's a rundown of restaurants as of this month:

I figure that "50 premium outlets" is for the whole buildout. Not for what's opening over the next 18 months.

Pretty sure the TJ Maxx at Assembly Square Marketplace, is a HomeGoods, not a TJ Maxx N' More. Not that that has anything to do with Assembly Row, just bad research on the Globe's part.

Funnily enough, Assembly Row just posted this list on their Facebook page:

Coincidence, or are they reading the thread?! O_O

Weird. Maybe AE pulled out. Back when I was working there training to be a manager (while I desperately searched for a job in the AEC industry post graduation), they tried wooing me with the notion of opening up Assembly Row.

Super excited for Adidas and Nike!!

They must have some kind of marker on them that says right? Was there a structure in the area that would have merited a "I think I'll save those"?

To my eyes, they look pretty beefy--like they're from an old viaduct or the ends of a significant "span" (Green/Orange/Fitzgerald) or old stadium (Old section from Boston Garden / Fenway).

RR spur for the old Ford plant?

I think these are from the Ford factory. This was the site of a large assembly line, hence the name Assembly Square/Row.
