Atlantic Wharf (née Russia Wharf) | Atlantic Ave | Waterfront

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

Wow I really like the crown. Thanks to it, the tower looks much taller and slimmer. The height is almost perfect.

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

^^^ Nice pictures. That crown definitely offers a pretty major boost in the final height of this building! Does anybody know what that is actually going to be? I remember the 395' number, but it looks like it is AT LEAST that high to the top of the crown, plus there is a spire which technically "counts". Boston has done pretty well for itself over the last 2 years. Too bad it looks like construction of future projects has run into a gigantic brick wall...

It might just be the angle....but I do think the building has grown from the original design (old style)

Edit: This post shows the old render versus what were getting, for those who dont remember

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

Great shot up Congress St, Boston02124. This building really makes Congress St seem like the main "entrance" into downtown.

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

That crown adds a lot. This building is going to be nice. Remember it has an atrium, never underestimate the effect an atrium has. Especially in the winter.

Agreed, that's going to look really nice coming in from SBW

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

^ thanks anyone know if the bridge is staying grey or hopefully painted some other color

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

They just finished a major rehab on the bridge in 2007 or 2008 and painted it that color during the project so I doubt it's gonna be anything other than grey anytime soon (well maybe "rust" in few years).

I knew they had just rehabbed it,but thought the paint was just primer,I'd perfer the rust color over whats there now!

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

Yeah, I think the color was designed to help the bridge blend into the background, but I'm with you. It doesn't blend it's just bleh . . .

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

Let's get sidetracked a moment. Hidden deep within the cross-streets initiative is a plan for Hanover Street, which is really a landscaping of the back stairs around City Hall Plaza (what would, I suppose, be the continuation of Hanover). Has anyone seen this or have thoughts?

hanoverAfter.jpg

A newly activated and landscaped City Hall Plaza extends the amenities of Hanover Street through the North End and Rose Kennedy Greenway to Government Center. Currently considered to be a windy, uninviting environment, the Crossroads Initiative will transform City Hall Plaza into a great, green public space where visitors, workers, and residents will choose to gather, rather than simply pass through. The Plaza will serve as an important connection, as well, drawing people to and from the ?front porch? of the Greenway?s North End Park to a new Government Center MBTA station.

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

^ That's exactly the words I was going to use. If this "cross-streets initiative" had teeth, it would actually (re-)make the cross-street, pulling Hanover through to Cambridge Street and ideally putting up developments at its sides...

Anyway. So where were we about Atlantic Wharf?

Re: Atlantic Wharf (formerly Russia Wharf)

That design for the City Hall Plaza will be impossible with the plans for the "Cancer Survivors" monument, described elsewhere on this forum.
