Avalon Exeter | 77 Exeter Street | Back Bay

I never noticed that.

I bet that underneath this building is where Malloy really hid his treasure.

God I can't wait to see what this shot will look like with Copley Tower, CSC, and potentially even Turnpike parcel 15. Granted its probably 5 years away, but excites me nonetheless!

It's already hard to imagine this not being there before.

This building is the perfect example of what a filler building is supposed to be. No eccentric design aspects, subtle details, blends in with the bigger picture but can hold its own when singled out. To me buildings like this aren't about the individual building itself but about adding to the bigger picture, by using a design which will make the buildings around it look better.

It particularly makes Trinity Place look better in the view above, by mostly blocking the view.

I hate to say it but I honestly believe the backside of this building is ugly as sin. It's still our best tower since Atlantic Wharf. (and my next batch after this will go back to showing the good sides!) These are taken from Quincy.

The hammerhead crane on the Exeter bothers me. It looks like an unnecessary hood ornament for an otherwise decent building.

The exterior is more or less complete. The protruding boom (I can only guess it's for window washing?) Is distracting.

I don't mind this building. It's got nicer proportions and materials than much of what is going up in the old Combat Zone, but then again this is a much higher level of luxury than those.

Man, did they really need that hoist? It kind of ruins the crown.

I think the hoist looks like some funky deco topper, (maybe a high-tech cannon?) and is much more interesting than the forest of antennas that sprout from the Hancock and other buildings.
