I just thought of something. Has anyone done a shadow study of these new buildings in the master plan? It would appear that some of them would cast shadows on the Esplanade! We can't have that in Boston!!! LOL!

You are referring to the narrow strip of grass between the River and Storrow Dr. by BU -- I don't think you can really call that the Esplanade -- so I wouldn't worry about the shadows there abouts

On the other hand -- on the BU side of Storrow Drive there is that grass strip often referred to as the Bu Riviera -- where the students hang to get some sun -- they might have real shadow issues

^Thats been happening since....2007? For some reason, it's quite the secretive process. They wouldnt give the Free Press renders for example.

If you want to see renders, drop by the Alumni office in the Law tower -- there are renders on the front desk. That said, I suspect they are not officially releasing renders for a few reasons: (1) they are not finalized, (2) the soft capital campaign for the Law School was only just recently launched to board members, (3) BU is never quick to press with development plans.

"In addition, $37.3 million has been allocated to fund critical renovations and expansions in our schools and colleges, including a consolidation and expansion of the College of Engineering machine shops, which are used for teaching and research, and the renovation of the former Hillel building at 233 Bay State Road as a modern reception and admissions center; the ENG renovation project will start in January and the 233 Bay State Road project will commence in summer 2012. Major renovations that were completed this summer are described on the Facilities Management & Planning website and some are included in Appendix A. Next summer will also see the beginning of the long-awaited project for the renovation and expansion of the Law School as well as continued space renovations across our campuses.

Finally, we have begun this fall to program and design the first of two academic buildings to be constructed on the parking lot at 645-665 Commonwealth Avenue with the goal of beginning to address the space needs in the College of Arts & Sciences. The timeline for construction will be determined later this year."

Amazing how fast these days that some things get done:

and the next thing you kown -- the streel riises, topped-off then the cranses leave
