Really Dave? Really? You are the author of this gem a couple months ago, which was the epitome of "I'm an architect and your not so stop commenting on this particular issue...." (my emphasis, not yours).

I've gone back to talking about it (the value of facedectomies) only with others in the field. I thought it would be fun to open the debate to others, but I was wrong. On that note, I will probably not be posting much in this particular thread.

This will likely be a big success at street level. It has presence there and with the high transparency of the glass the activity of those on the inside will be something of a show for those on the outside, especially at night. Any retail going in?

Just drove by (sorry no pics) and the glass on the Mass/Belvidere corner is now halfway up.

From Thursday. Glass is almost complete. I think it goes a long way towards sewing this building together.

This is going to be a lot like Kensington. No matter how good the sunset, no matter how awesome the photo (these are quite good btw) ... the building aint getting any better.

Personally I really like this building. Yes I realize it might have looked more interesting or "cooler" with the original panels, but I really like the semi-industrial tower portion mixed with minimalist modern base and strip. I think that the sunset photos showcase the beautiful light capturing qualities of both the glass base and corrugated metal looking tower cladding.

I also feel this building fits with Berklee's image.

I can get down with this thought...at least this tried to be something good and different even if most people believe it failed at doing so. The Kensington is a piece of hot garbage that was value engineered to hell from the very beginning. Even if you never saw a rendering of this or the Kensington, you can look at how they're built and know one had a lot more effort put into it than the other.

Thank god. I was getting really nervous that those black vents in the glass were going to be permanent.

The strip of glass going to the top improves this building immensely, it looked so goofy as a glass street facade with some wannabe hipster industrial chic dumped on top. Though I still dislike the "zig zag" at the bottom. Is there any function to this other than aesthetics? Between this and Kensington I hope this isn't some new trend.
