It looks industrial, but not chic. Maybe the corner section of glass going to the roof can help pull this together but it may not be enough. It's an odd grafting of materials that clash and battleship gray is not a good color for something this big.

This is like one of those buildings that everyone knows is there, but the architect never puts on his webpage. I happen to think this is one of the better buildings being constructed in Boston at the moment, but I still agree with a lot of the above criticism. My friend and I were walking north on Mass Ave a week ago, when he completely unprompted said, "Oh my god, those are two separate buildings." I agree, and keep telling myself the corner glazing will stitch it all together, but I sort of doubt it.

Sorry,
This is a dud. Knowing who designed it, I have to hope that the design was externally compromised for some reason. We all know there was a major issue with the exterior wall installer. I have to think that there were a number of changes made to mitigate some of the loss.
This is not a building that belongs in a portfolio next to Tata Hall.

I am workings on info graphics to illustrate the emotional roller coaster that AB goes through with almost every project. It pretty much follows the Ew Awesome Ew pattern.

I think there's alot of people afraid to state their honest opinions in the face of some of the snobbery on this board. Once one person says they like it, it opens the flood gates for others that were afraid to be made look like fools by those more highly regarded on the board.

That's definitely true. There's lots of different strata among the users here. There's the actual architects, who have professional, functional and philosophical artistic reasons for what they say, and they disagree with one another often. Then there are the laymen who are mostly here because they have an interest in the development of Boston from some other standpoint, either transit or density or walkability, and for whom the architecture is more of an aesthetic, subjective judgement call.

This one was particularly roller coaster-ish because there was that brief moment when the first few corrugated panels went up where we all perked up and went "oh...cool!" But then that faded away pretty quickly lolz.

It's one of those buildings that I have to try too hard to like because of a number of cool elements. I don't enjoy the feeling it gives me.
