Yea, people were not happy when they first saw that cladding, but I sort of like it. Will wait til we see more before passing judgement though.

I'm liking it so far, but I'm also thinking it'll be a whole 'nother matter once we see an additional 12 stories of this stuff...either we'll love it or friggin hate it.

True. It looks like it could be cool, but even in the best case scenario it's not going to be as nice as the MassArt tower.

Don't get me wrong. I'm very pleasantly shocked at the window choice. I've looked through the plans and the dorm rooms are built to the absolute minimum specs, as they all are these days. The huge windows will really help to make those tiny rooms feel much larger than they are. I love the way they look and they should work perfectly with this very unique industrial facade that seems to be planned. I'm excited for this facade to go up.

Industrial Chic can be a great look but Neo-Correctional Facility? Not all that optimistic.

West Village H over at NU has some pretty large windows (ie, the entire north wall is floor to ceiling windows) in its dorm rooms. It was nice.

There's still not enough cladding for me to make any sort of definitive judgement on it yet.

Ribbon windows tend to make me apprehensive, but overall, this is looking really promising.

The "blank blue walls" are so they could work through the winter on the interior while the fiasco with the facade was being figured out. They are temporary. You can't do interior work/finishes when it is exposed to the elements. Normally, the facade would go up and protect the interior while they fitted it out, but they had to modify the typical construction sequence.

Thank you datadyne...I suspected that was the case...but nowadays you never know what designers are dreaming up. At the very least the big windows will wake up students to get ready for class in time!
