The basement is 3 levels deep. So one more to come flush with the street.

That's odd because from my vantage point it looks to be at least 20 feet if not more before it is flush with street level. How big is a basement level? Maybe its just an optical illusion from where I sit and it is much closer to street level than what I can see. But they still haven't even removed all of the diagonal bracings that are a good 10 feet below street level.

B1 is retail *under the Burnham*, so it has high ceilings.

B1 is also the level of the T concourse. So it's as deep as that. B1 under the Burnham building extends well out beyond the physical walls of the building.

Section:

Notice the height of B1, especially in comparison to B2.

To get a sneak peak of what the Primark storefront may look like, I took this picture over the weekend in London. This is their Oxford Street location. It is a huge store and was totally packed with people shopping. In addition, I didn't see anyone leaving that store with a small bag, more like several large bags.

But B1 is parking under the tower, correct?

Yes, but the parking on B1 has the same floor-to-floor height as the retail. They are matching the B1 of the Burnham Building. Refer to the section I posted.

It should be this deep:

Is Arnold Worldwide still the putative occupant of the majority of the Burnham Building? Move-in this fall???

Does Arnold own Roche Bros.? That's the tenant for Burnham AFAIK.

??? Arnold is the advertising business and is taking over most of the Burnham office space (I believe Primark is also taking some of the office space for their US headquarters). Roche Bros will be going in the lower floors. Office space for the Burnham is primarily located on floors 4-8. My understanding is that most, if not all, of the retail in the Burnham will be taken by the Roche Bros. market and the flagship Primark location.

Whoops! I confused Arnold with Albertson's - which used to own Shaw's/Star Market. Thinking with the supermarket brain...

Every year, right before school started, my mom would hustle us in to the "basement" for some new clothes. People changing in the aisles. Others hiding stuff so they could come back later when it would discount even deeper. A wonderful ritual for all kinds of families. What a loss for Boston!

The light was right to see into upper floors of the Burnham this morning and some of that office space appears tantalizingly close to readiness. The grids for drop ceilings are hung, drywall in place, etc. I know it will be a while and there is no lobby yet but it is looking great.

Welcome MillenniumPartners. Thanks for the link.

I noticed you posted this photo in your timeline:

Is there any chance you will keep the Filene's nameplate under the clock as a nod to the history of the building?
