Perfect example of stupidity on yahoo:
How much is the DEPT of Education paying this women to say this.
Yellen: A College or Advanced Degree Is 'Key to Economic Success' and a 'Happier' Life

Really? How about comparing the amount of debt for that advanced degree can get you in compared to what your going to do for work?
Is it worth being a high school teacher being 100K indebt for that advanced degree only to find out that you really don't like teaching?

Rifleman Key factors for a successful and happy life:
#1 Eating Healthy (Staying Fit) -Nutrition-
#2 Study things you love (Do things you have a passion for)
#3 Take a couple of Basic Accounting & Bookkeeping classes/ learn to live within your means.
#4 Understand DEBT management--RISK vs Reward vs the amount of Debt you accumulate-
#5 Create realistic goals
#6 surround yourself with Positive, Good people that hold you to the same standard as you hold them.
#7 Follow your dreams (no matter what)

This will lead a more positive lifestyle than to say that a College or advanced degree would lead to a happier life.
The reality in this country is student loan industry is in Trillions in default and to claim that college leads to a happier life is not true.

The younger generation can get trapped doing work that will not give them other options because of their personal debt scenario.
This is probably why they don't teach the inner cities anything about Finance, economics or how the system creates money out of thin air backed by nothing in the inner city highschools.

Btw in Turkey, I find it interesting that the assassin appeared to be a bodyguard for the Russian ambassador. It's also strangely symbolic having taken place at an art exhibition of photography of Turkish scenery.

And I can't "prove" much but I'm pretty sure the attempted coup in Turkey was sparked by people higher up in the hierarchy, the ones in the know, had become horrified with Russian influence in the Turkish government and how complicit the leadership had become in it.

Which makes me wonder where this is headed with Turkey accusing the U.S. of harboring a "terrorist cult leader"

Also, I would like to point out that the Turkish downing of a russian jet, and turkey later declaring the pilot a "gulenist", was likely one of the many people who was aware of Russian influence. The turkish government is just calling any kemalist Turk a "terrorist", "gulenist".

The downing of the Russian jet, the attempted coup, and this assassination I believe are all desperate attempts by kemalist Turks to save their country. Just a little context for you guys when you read about US officials vaguely referring to something bad brewing behind the scenes in Turkey.

This is supposed to be our NATO ally.

Also, I think Obama was a great president, but...

It was his mistakes early on in his presidency that set this in motion. Obama tried doing a reset in relations with Russia. Obama let our red line be crossed. Obama signaled weakness, a geopolitical opening for an adversary led by someone that was in fact brainwashed by russian nationalism during the Soviet era, which pounced on the opportunity to sever the bonds that held western society together. Look at Poland. Look at France. Look at Ukraine. Look at Turkey. Brexit had russian propagandists involved even.

Obama, you were too Naive and the world is paying dearly for it. It's too late now.

Following your dreams is terrible advice.

Finance and economics aren't generally taught in any high school, as they generally require the mathematics and base one gets in high school to actually understand. BTW, BLS, BLA, and OB are 'inner city' school, and some of the finest in the state and country. Sumus Primi.

And they teach economics at BLS as well so there you go Rifle.

KentXie you sound like an entitled college grad with a masters in economics making 80K a year living in your overpriced condo and wondering why your not rich.

But the charts say this should be going up but its not? Probably thought Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were strong buys when they didn't file financials for 4 years with the NYSE.

You sound like a bitter unemployable loser.

Haha, I grew up in the projects (Charlestown) so I'm pretty sure I'm not entitled. By the way, I don't care about being rich as long as I make enough to travel (which I do). So if you're saying that I sound like someone who got a college degree, makes enough money to pay off my student loans, and who is able do what I love to do a lot (travel), then yes, yes I do.

I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do any of this if I didn't have a college degree so I guess I did my cost/benefit analysis correctly. So poo poo on you.

Wow, You liberals are hurting my feelings. I might have to stop blogging or posting on this board.

you guys are so so smart. I'm so sorry questioning the liberal way.

I never said college was a waste of money. I believe you should have some guidance before digging yourself into debt that cannot be repaid for 30 years without a real idea of what type of passion you have for the world and what your interests are.

Education is the key to society but digging yourself into 100'k loans when you cleary can only make 35-50K a year will just lead to misery not success.
