Not the same. Boston Harbor Islands shouldn't use the lighthouse in its logo if you can't actually visit it!

EDIT: Looks like there's a private ferry that takes people with reservations from Fan Pier.

sorry back to winter!

The metalwork from this bridge that the scrapyard melted down or lost: what was it?

Wow, I have to get out there. Can you take a ferry?

Yes, it is publicly accessible by a ferry run by the NPS that leaves from Fan Pier adjacent to the Northern Avenue Bridge. The tours only run a few times a month I think, and its in small groups (to fit the small boat that takes you to the small island) and kind of pricey but well worth it. Plan and purchase your tickets in advance..... The views of the skyline are quite cool, but also the intricate, 150+ year old lens that projects the light is fascinating.

It was a birthday gift from my awesome wife last year. Here are more photos if you're curious: http://www.flickr.com/photos/13620802@N08/sets/72157621012148662/

A fantastic shot that requires recognition. Onramps as art. It's the kind of thing that brings hope of high-culture-relevance to LA, but is a rather sad (if beautifully depicted) commentary on Boston.

The corner of Tremont, Beacon, and School Street...

I love that picture of 1 PO Square! It looks like the top was knocked aside in an earthquake or something. Very "earth after people" feel to that shot.

Thanks. Considering it was a freezing cold weekend afternoon, it felt like 'earth after people' too. Nothing but icy winds blowing litter and dust into the sky, with nary a soul around.

Wow, it took me a few seconds and a squint to realize that was not a 1950s postcard.

So hopefully no one minds that I add a bunch of photos from my weekend. Enjoy.

I took it 2 Saturdays ago, and then had fun with color filters.
