I could see them having a legitimate gripe with their outdoor seating - something that they probably depend on every year to boost revenue from May through September. I am going to assume the construction hurt the appeal of sitting outside.

Yes, this has so much more potential than a make up store!
 
Reminds me of a building in Münich that's used as a high-end food market, both groceries and ready-to-eat. Seating along the windows associated with the various stalls, very pleasant. Would be nice to see something like that there, rather than a mall store.

The Viktualienmarkt? I was there back in September while construction on this building was in full swing. When I got home, I thought the same thing (now if only we could get Nordsee to open some locations here).
 
Anyone with some architectural or construction knowledge know why this building is almost completely wrapped in what looks like white drywall or plywood (not sure, got a quick look this AM). I'll try to get a picture at lunch, but I'm hoping it's protection for finalizing the glasswork and not part of the final product.
 
^^^ I think that's just to hide the prep work going on inside before the tenant moves in, not anything structural.

Also, the glass covering should just be temporary while they set up inside.
 
Wow. Sephora's on course to be the CVS of the mid-20teens. Does the world need this much make-up??
 
Huh, I figured this new space was going to be for something more... topical? Local? Seems weird that a standalone building on Faneuil Hall plaza is hosting Generic Make-up Corp. Way to take a decent looking structure and make it characterless via tenant choice.
 
Design of substance, devoted to the monetization of "surface." EPIC FAIL.
 
Will Sephora be the only tenant in this space? Hopefully something more interesting goes alongside it?
 
Having been to Taiwan last year, our drug store beauty market isn't even close to saturation yet. I'm pretty sure cosmetics in east Asia are as essential as toothpaste for us.
