Was over there today - they've moved the Bobby Orr statue into the concourse.

That's fair, although I never really associated Pennsy with the actual Penn Station, given that most tend to think of Penn Station as solely the below grade portions. Nonetheless, I will say that Penn Station has been better over the years.

Not sure what you mean. I wrote that as a compliment. When I lived in Boston, there was still an elevated Green Line over there and dining consisted of some dive bars and a couple of Irish pubs.
It is really impressive what is going in here. I am a huge fan of food halls, they seem to do really well here in NYC and showcases smaller, non-chain / micro-chain dining options, with interesting cuisines (i.e., not Chipotle, Dunkies, Starbucks, Boloco, Pret, etc.). I bet this place will be packed all the time.

So, written as a complimentary statement of something never said before, but will be, reflecting the immense forward progress this part of town has achieved and will continue to achieve.

And I'll be dead before you hear "let's go over to Penn Station for dinner, there's a food hall and some really awesome restaurants, too" in New York.

Where's the "Giant" Music Venue which has been promoted for the Hub on Causeway going to be located?
Accommodating up to 2000 guests, almost 1500 of which are in the music hall, the multiple levels offer every guest the best view in the house, fully elevating your nightlife and live music hall experience. --- I don't see 2000 people inside the space marked Music Venue -- unless there are parts not shown on that plan

This has to be the most transformational development to a Boston neighborhood since the prudential mall and complex was built over the pike and in place of the old rail yards.

Don't know if or when the new pro shop will be opening on the ground floor of the TD Garden, but it sure is looking good.

Cool; thanks Beeline. The ceiling tiles in this image are why I keep asking if the NS concourse is getting a spruce-up. IMO, it would be a shame if this whole project went through and they didn't take that opportunity. Normally I might shrug it off as "separate developers / separate properties," but in this case they kept touting the partnership between Delaware North and BPX on this.

I hope someone does what's right here!

Stopped in there last night before the game and I was far from impressed. The layout is weird and the selection was lacking, given the expanded size.

I think something will. The Orr statue isn't centered, and when I was there I saw them messing with the floor in the matching position on the other side. I think they intend to put two statues there.

I'm thinking today's concourse just becomes the doormat laid at the threshold of a great station.

Nobody will care what today's concourse is like because they won't be doing much more than wiping their feet on it as they enter and leave what will become "the real station" in people's minds.

Or you could just say we're getting renovation-by-dilution. Once the other ground-floor stuff is open the whole station will be 90% new and 90% awesome (and few will care that the 10% concourse is neither new nor awesome)

As doormat, today's concourse will just need a power-washing, not a renovation.

Not quite sure I agree... the "station" for most working stiffs will be the concourse + the exterior concourse/shed of the Hub, at most. If you leave through the side doors, it will be the concourse alone, same as it ever was.

The Hub stuff is great, but you're only going to see it if you're patronizing it, and I definitely wouldn't call it part of "a great station." It's an amenity in an adjacent development.

I"m not a daily NS commuter when I do I'm either:
1) Close enough to departure time that I just need my 3sqft of floor to watch the departure board
2) Far enough before departure time that I'd be free to grab/browse something in the non-concourse part of the station

If you really are just to/from the street or subway, your experience of "the concourse" is mostly just monitoring the crowd you're walking with.
