The New Retail Thread

In before CambridgeSide vanishes:

Au Bon Pain - Par baked shit
Burger King - shit shit
Chiang Mai Thai - Chinese, cajun, thai shit
Chicken Now - chicken shit
Chipotle - GMO free shit
D'Angelo Sandwich Shops - Keep it
Dunkin Donuts - Diarrhea
Freshens - Dont even know what it is shit
Saladworks - Healthy shit
Sarku Japan - Throw shit on a plate and mix it together shit
Sarku Japan Sushi Bar - 5 day old fish shit
Taco Bell - Good shit
Villa Fresh Italian Kitchen - Heat lamp pizza shit

Sounds like we need an Eataly in Cambridge.

Absurd that there is no Taco Bell in all of downtown Boston.

and LOL at the people in this thread saying good riddance to unhealthy fast food in favor of.... unhealthy Italian food. Last I checked, pasta with a heavy sauce is not all that much better, if any, than a chicken sandwich.

I think the debate should be framed "high quality food versus lower quality." Pasta isn't healthy, but Eataly provides a higher end product with fresher meats, etc. Calorie wish it's a wash but it's an upgrade. The price will absolutely reflect this.

Come to Curry Student Center at Northeastern! According to legend, we have the only Taco Bell in Boston.

I'm pretty sure theres another one on the vfw parkway in west roxbury. Albeit it's a taco bell/long john silvers

Reznor -- apparently you haven't heard of the health benefits of the Mediterranean Diet aka La Dolce Cucina Vita

But more seriously, based on a long-running study of Centenarians -- outside of absolute acute toxins -- there are very few foods which can not be consumed in moderation with no significant effects on health and longevity

The key is the word Moderation

Ha. I'm glad you found my earlier post on the food court at Copley because I was wracking my brain trying to remember what was there. Yes, the Mrs. Fields and the Sbarro! And, of course, on the level below the magazine and newspaper store at the corner.

This obviously is not retail and I was not sure where to put this.

The final race in the 2016 IndyCar season is going to be happening in Boston, specifically South Boston over Labor Day weekend reports are saying. Organizers say they expect 250,000 spectators to show up.

Discussion of this has been occurring on this thread here.

As someone who works next to the Cambridgeside (1 Canal, formerly 10 Canal)) and lives near the Pru, all this talk of food court closure dismays me. I much prefer Qdoba burritos to Boloco and I'm on a first name basis with most of the staff at the Cambridgeside Au Bon Pain.

Well the CambridgeSide food court is not going anywhere. Your friends at ABP will be fine.

The 2015 aB award for most appropriate username has just been won...;)

Thank goodness they're putting some money into improving this building.

Yes. It would be on the shortlist of the biggest eyesores in Boston.

It started out as an ironic nickname in college. It's no longer ironic.

Speaking of new retail. The rumor in 1 Canal is an eatery and coffee house (or something similar) coming to the vacant retail space along with a bar/brewery type establishment nearby.

Put me on the list of people pissed that the food court isnt being replaced.

It serves a very real need.

It is being replaced. By Eataly. Look at the format and purpose of Eataly stores. By my estimate, there will be a net increase in quick, prepped food options there than the current food court.
