It strikes me as really smart that they've gotten this phase's piledriving done before Partners occupies it's building. I wonder if when this phase nears completion, they will drive the piles for the next phase?

Here is the construction update residents received last week:

We wanted to share an overview of the construction timeline over the next few months for the apartments under construction at Block 6 (located next to AVA Somerville) and the upcoming hotel/condominium building going up in
Block 5 (located next to AMC Theater).

Block 6 (next to AVA):

As you are already aware pile driving was completed at Block 6 in late December. The next month will be similar to that last few weeks as they continue with foundation work. Starting in the middle of February, they will begin bringing in pre-cast pieces to assemble the garage. The steel work will begin in March and you will start to see the building go up.

Block 5 (next to AMC):

Preparation for construction in Block 5 will begin in the next few weeks and you will see equipment and fencing arrive on the site. The most noticeable work will be the sheet driving which should start in the middle of February. This is similar to pile driving but they are driving long sheets of corrugated metal into the ground instead of hundreds of concrete piles so it should only take about a month. The building will have a below grade parking garage so the sheets provide the support for the foundation. Once the sheet driving is completed, they will begin excavating the soil for the garage.

Please see the attached rendering provided by Federal Realty which shows the continuation of the Assembly Row Neighborhood. This rendering includes the new Linear Park that will connect Partners Healthcare building to the rest of the area. The great news is that the future buildings at Assembly Row will also have shops and restaurants. So as the neighborhood expands so do all the food and shopping options! We should have more information on the incoming retailers and eateries later this year. We know construction is disruptive so we appreciate your patience as the neighborhood continues to grow and take shape. As always, please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

I for some reason could not open the attachment with the new renderings, was anyone else who lives in the building able to? If so could you post?

I can't even see an attachment in either email, but I think I have the brochure they sent out with renderings on the back; I'll take a look when I get home. Yayyyyy more pile driving =/ Some pics from this morning:

^^^Very exciting (both davem and cobean) and davem, it looks like you're well on your way to losing the rest of your Boston view!

It's a minor affair, but new renders have also been posted for a childcare building that's part of the Partners complex. The renders aren't all that exciting but click through if you're interested: http://www.somervillema.gov/sites/default/files/documents/F-III_Architectural Perspective.pdf

It's a spiffy building whose architecture would have worked well in Northpoint. Alas, we do not have the employees living/working nearby like Partners will offer so it could not have been for "child care".

It's progressive for Somerville and certainly an improvement over the usual Grandma aesthetic they arm twist developers into.

There is a permit up in the space next to Muse Paint Bar and it is a TOTTO RAMEN!! I love that place, excellent news for assembly.
