    Thompson's Point, Portland

I went down to TP this past weekend, it is all blocked off beyond the 1st line of buildings FY. Not worth the trip anymore.

The rendition would fit quite well in Napa Valley California, but I don't care for it in this location at all.

    Portland's Franklin Street redesign

Spring Street actually dead ended at Center Street, before the Spring Street Arterial project.

    Portland's Franklin Street redesign

This street name must have changed since 2004? The treatment plant has an address of 500 Marginal Way. Link:http://data.rtknet.org/rmp/rmp.php?facility_id=100000161665&database=rmp&detail=3&datype=T

I like that description, "grayscale". My sentiments as well.

Black & White Portland, views from the 40's and 50's

Entirely possible, this article says Douglas Street/Circle, but may have been on the other side of Congress:http://losttrottingparks.blogspot.com/2011/03/story-of-bill-wellman-trotter-injured.html?m=0

Black & White Portland, views from the 40's and 50's

There was a surface parking lot for the hotel guests from where you see the rotary to Cumberland Avenue, valet service was the norm when they first opened this end of the hotel, (also moving the registration desk to this end) there was a multi-story brick garage with an auto elevator at...

The wave of the future for Portland single family? More and more of this style is evident throughout the city.

They'll end up fencing that in after the first rock concert.

    Portland - Civic Center

On Saturday June 1st, they started taking down the suicide steps, but right away found an unexpected buried gas pipeline, so started taking down the concrete around the Center Street entrance instead.

Good choice on the D600 Corey. There's nothing but great reviews of it. I am sure the quality will reflect in the photos you shoot, as always.

The "suicide steps" at Center & Spring Streets is rubble in this photo. Soon after the CCCC opened these suicide steps earned their name by being too steep and not friendly to either crazed rock concert goers, or any other patron for that matter, as a result the steps were not used anymore...

I don't know if it has been mentioned already or not, but I have seen posts elsewhere that the old American Can building on Read Street is being torn down right now.

Doesn't the Eastland already have a "ballroom"? Not dating myself, but my high school senior prom was there in the ballroom. As far as the "drunken bums" go, I remain neutral on that.

Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

The plans are out to the general contractors for the project at Pine & Brackett Streets. From what I saw, it is typical of today's city development. A wall of building right to the sidewalk, very few plantings, no grass. Retail at the corner of Pine & Brackett, and on the end on Brackett...

    Westbrook, ME

I absolutely can not believe the city is doing away with that section of Saco Street. Apparently the decision makers don't ever use it, I do, and it will be a great pain in the butt to use an alternate route. I can see another traffic signal coming at Main & Mechanic Streets, just what is...

    Westbrook, ME

I wonder if they are going to discontinue the short section of Saco Street or squeeze it down? Although short, I consider it a critical key street to get out of town, or onto Main Street from Saco Street proper.

    Portland Transportation Center

The RR tracks were still be used in the early 1970's, by Portland Terminal Company (Maine Central RR) and Canadian National. There were some businesses down there that still received boxcars of goods, either dry or refrigerated. The tracks did indeed run around the East End and across the Back...
