archBoston Presidential Poll 2012

For whom will you be voting on Tuesday?

  • Total voters
    44
Remember when Suffolk Poll said Romney was a lock for Virginia, Florida, and North Carolina in October. I guess they should learn not to count their chickens before they hatch.

Have you any idea what it takes to BUILD a skyscraper? You complain about shit not getting done on this message board constantly but then.. you vote for.. Obama? WTF? Businesses build jobs and trains and iphones and all the cool shit we talk about in this forum. Perhaps you never built a business yourself, most men don't have the guts to ever even try. Maybe you would then understand.

It took me 5 minutes to vote in Assonet (still registered there) at 7am. I was the 14th person to vote. And I'm not ashamed to admit that I voted all democrat for the first time in my life and "yes" on all three ballot questions. I voted for W in 04 (not proud), Mcain in 08 (torn, but I liked him and his experience) and Brown when the "Kennedy Seat" was up. Largely I voted mostly R for fiscal reasons, but the D support for infrastructure and education spending has me sold. Also, there's nothing scarier to me than the religious nuts on the far right. They're far more disconcerting than the nutty far left folks who I find mildly entertaining. I'm not ashamed to admit all of this thanks to the relative anonymity of the Internet.

You are completely full of shit.

You mad bro? You're talking about your faith in the human spirit and having the guts to build a business and disparaging the "entitlement mentality" while crying that a Democrat got elected into office? Sack up.

I love people who only open their mouths when they're really pissed off. You know they're lurking around the place, just waiting for someone/something to set them off.

I usually respect your posts but SERIOUSLY...........NO FUTURE? I guess Alexander Graham Bell was using Govt Funding.....Or how about the Wright Bros........ The people that make the future are the DREAMERS not a bunch of GOVT shitheads swindling the working class money.

Okay...so tell me, if there was absolutely no Govt Spending, as in 0 spending, who pays for the military, healthcare, roads, education and infrastructures? I'm taking the statement as literal. I know you meant government spending at a level where at least it can cover maintenance of infrastructure, a decent military, a serviceable healthcare, and some education coverage, but again, I'm taking a literal translation as a tongue-in-cheek statement. Chill out.

Oh waaah. Look, I probably know more about the economy than you do. Fact is Romney's plan is not logical. You can't cut taxes and spending at the same time and expect to cut the deficit. You can't increase military spending and close loopholes and expect to cut the deficit.

You want to talk about things not getting done, you talk about Congress, not the President. Unless the Republicans were poised to take over the senate, it wouldn't matter if Romney won or not, there would still be a deadlock and as long as this deadlock exist, there will be uncertainty. Business will not hire if there is uncertainty because they can't plan for the future if they can't tell what the future looks like. You can give them all the tax cut, all the stimulus package, and they wouldn't spend a dime if they are too scared to hire.

Yeah businesses build jobs, except for when they don't. Look at the Bush tax cuts. Did it consistently create jobs? No, because cutting taxes does not necessarily mean businesses would create jobs. Also, unbeknownst to you, both Parties want to see the end of the Bush tax cuts because they know they can simply no longer afford it.

And yes, I do complain about shit not getting done. Unfortunately, neither candidates would solve the problem. Besides the economy, which I find Obama's plan a little more sensible, I also agree with him on social issues. I'm turned off by the need to bring religion into government by the Republican party. I think it was stupid that Romney had to deal with the issue of being a Mormon as an indicator of his quality. I'm an atheist and I have no problem with other people's religion. I am in no way represented by the American Atheist and I see them as left-wing nutjobs and hypocrites, but I'll be damned if my lifestyle is dictated by other people's religion.

I did not disparage you for voting Republican. I don't see Romney himself as a bad man. Unfortunately, Romney had to change his centralist and moderate views just to appease the Republicans which have, in recent year, shifted too much to the right. I also hope that Scott Brown would be elected to another position because he is someone we need more in the government, someone that is willing to work with others and not afraid to cross the line if needed.

I hope you can put away your anger and learned to deal with it. Stay classy.

Perfect example of GOVT programs these days. We have the Securities Exchange Commission.
What happened in 2008 with all the banks? What did the SEC do? What are they doing? Did they file any criminal charges besides Bernie Madoff who voluntarily gave up who was in Business with all of the bankers.

IRS---Another organization that is so complex that even if you filed your taxes by the book they could still charge you for tax evasions IRS code book is so confusing that it contratidict it-self at this point. Its only an organization that favors the very wealthy.

Welfare/Public Housing......I have no problem in helping the poor and in times we needed such public assistance. But if prices in housing are so expensive then why not flood the market with housing or building permits for the builders. This would bring down the pricing in homes. Just another way the Govt demoralizes people.

Your delusional if really believe without GOVT spending we would have NO FUTURE. There is always a future......And what our founding fathers were telling us is FREEDOM is the future. That is the only thing that matters is your freedom. At this point in history we work for the GOVT.

Most of the private sector working class have no pensions
Govt Sector has pensions
It doesn't make any sense.

I like how you completely ignored all my questions and went off on something else. What is that called? Selective reading?

Here's something simple:
If there are absolutely no government spending whatsoever (as in the government do not spend a single penny on anything at all), who pays for:
The military to protect our nation?
Healthcare to cure diseases and heal injuries?
Education?
Police and firefighters to protect the citizens?
Infrastructure?

I do understand that there are some government funded programs that we can get by if they ceased to exist. However, what I'm talking about is if there were literally no spending by the government. If you don't see the problem in that then gosh I hope you don't one day become elected into a position of power where you are allowed to completely shut off all government spending.

If GOVT only focused spending on what your saying. That makes sense.
#1 Military to protect the borders not police the world.
#2 Police-Firefighters, Muni-workers based on cities & states
#3 Infrastructure--Outsource to Private contractors
#4 Education--should be on states or on community responsibility
#5 Healthcare---Not sure on healthcare.....Not my industry
#6 A completely revamped & reorganization of Federal depts SEC, FDA, IRS that had no relations with the private sector.
Good GOVT SPENDING---But mininal--There is a need for GOVT but limited.
I hope I answered your question.

Politicians telling us that Casinos are good for our society or spending our tax-money on specific insurance companies, banks, energy companies that continue to support their political base and then tell all the sheep they are creating jobs for the best interest of society is BULLSHIT.

These are the dreamers and innovators that create jobs & change society
Did Bill Gates receive public funding for revolutionize the world? Or did Steve Jobs get a bailout when Gates swindle his idea from Apple? Apple was on the brink of destruction when Microsoft took over the world with windows.

That is how I see it.

Yes. He did. He and people like him benefit from robust public infrastructure. There's a reason Microsoft isn't in Somalia.

^This.

YOU are the problem with America. This really breaks through and cuts it down to its simplest, most naked essence.

And yes.. i'm mad bro.

Who here has any employees?

Listen kid, this isn't China. Now that you're maybe done with college try to make a buck, feed a family and make payroll in the private sector, and get back to me.

Your voting history and "priorities" expose a heaping pile of un-explainable troll.

I guess you didn't get the MEMO.

The majority of Boston Redevelopment Employees are required to post on Archboston on a regular basis to support the development process so they can go home and feel like they contributed to the developments that the city of Boston supports.

You did it. After 6 years and 1500 posts of masquerading as a South Coast resident, you two have finally blown my cover. I'm a BRA employee just trolling an election thread so I can go home and feel like I've contributed to city funded and subsidized projects. I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids.
