“This project will combine seven parcels in East Boston to create a new five-story 28-unit apartment building. Five of the units will be income-restricted. This project aligns with PLAN: East Boston and the Coastal Flood Resilience Overlay District resilient design standards. The project is a transit-oriented development, as it is within walking distance of both Maverick and Airport stations on the MBTA Blue Line. In alignment with PLAN: East Boston, the project will add a sidewalk connection to Maverick Street and street trees along the new sidewalk for shade and pedestrian comfort. Additionally, a $5,000 contribution will be made to Tree Eastie, a not-for-profit corporation that supports the continued expansion of the tree canopy in East Boston.”

Front and back of a newly squeezed in Everett St 4 floor residential close to Maverick Square and the East Boston Greenway. Fun fact is this is abutting a couple of private way alleys, one of which is grass/dirt that leads to a footpath that goes through Eastie Farm. This is among a couple places in the very dense and urban Jeffries Point that has dirt private ways (other being Geneva Street by the airportborder (which also has a lot of private developments going in).

Another 4 story stuck in on the quiet little dirt road in Eastie that could, Geneva St. I love how this quiet, private, dirt street is developing densely

Has there been any news about what might be going in for all of this new retail space?
As of now - there is empty space at 2-10 Maverick Square in the ground/2nd floor restaurant space with no update of a tenant - I assume some stalemate of high rent or something, or liquor license issues.

Cafe Gloria on Maverick Street, is still seeking fundraising from customers à la Kickstarter type ways 🤣

The hotel on Orleans/Porter Street is slowly being outfitted inside but it was rumored to have a hotel bar and restaurant included.

There's been no news of a tenant for first and second floors of the Central Square 6-story residential either.

Expect to see a lot of retail/dining opportunities or even new openings as a result of this!

I think bostonrestauranttalk or licensing board meetings are where most of this is found.

Bummer about Cafe Gloria. I'd been excited about that place for a while, but even by the time we moved out of Eastie, it didn't seem to have made much progress and social media posts were few and far between.

Exactly. I think the past 3 years I've been here, the opening soon poster outside and wait has been going almost the whole time. Seemed pretty DoA. I liked the concept as well

Yeah, I followed along on Instagram as soon as I saw the signs. There are occasionally progress posts, but it's soooooo slow and I worry it'll just die. However, I did see that he's doing a popup at AXL the next couple of Saturdays. My wife used to take spin classes there, so I absolutely would have checked it out if we were still local.

This looks suspiciously like a 5-story project and not a 4-story one :) (which I'm completely on board with)

This area is about to get very dense and even more TOD, once the space with the failing strip mall with BK, Subway, Rent a Center, and Rockland Trust and empty parking is sold off and turned into denser 4/5 story retail/residential.
