Your confusing with it breaking the plateau, which it now has. Does anyone know whats up with the core you dont normally see a core first build on an all concrete structure, and it wasnt there until it passed the mech floor?

Perhaps it had to do with preparation for an impending crane jump. A third brace attachment to the core was constructed this week above the mechanical floor; they might have had to have accelerated the core to have it cure in time to allow the crane cab to “get out of the way” of the approaching floor plates from below.

UPDATE: They are in fact raising the crane this afternoon; it looks like 2 new segments are in place as of 1:00pm and the crane cab is well above 1 Dalton and has cleared 177 Huntington.

Per the update, they're aiming to be on the 48th floor by the end of March. That's a floor approximately every 5 days- it'll be interesting to see if they can stick to that schedule.

I bet they meet that goal so long as we don't have a prolonged period of sub zero temps and multiple big snow storms.

Curious, how much quality control goes on as they pour more and more concrete? Is there a point where someone says ok, this floor is good now we can build up to the next one?

The structural engineer will typically specify appropriate curing time based on all of the admixtures and steel inside of the concrete.

That would take the building all the way up to the final floor before the outdoor spaces, yes?

Its pretty cool how much rebar is in modern skyscrapers along with the amount of strength they get out of concrete these days. They're like hybrid steel/concrete structures now with damn near just as much steel as concrete. 1wtc was out of control for obvious reasons although I wonder what security measures they're taking with Hudson yards seeing that that is a wayyyy bigger complex than the wtc is now. Anyways the mech floors on this building are beautiful.
