Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Only country with pre-clearance in Europe is Ireland (Shannon and Dublin Airports).
I also Googled in vain to find any reference to new/expanded customs-immigration facilities at PVD (it seems they might have a phone number there, but only for the Pre-Check stuff). No contracts, no self-promoting "ready for business" PR.

So I suspect this means that Condor will have to stop in DUB or SNN on the westbound leg. (it probably is too small a market to try to actually serve PVD-Ireland by stopping both ways)

They have "sterile areas" so I think they will have something figured out by June.

The flight is bookable and non-stop. You can connect in Frankfurt to other destinations served by Lufthansa and other airlines.

They may have sterile areas, but are there ICE staff at Providence. I don't think so. Who should pay for ICE staff to be at Providence to process that one daily flight?

Looks like Saturday only Boston-Providenciales and Boston-St. Maarten are extended through at least June 13th on JetBlue. They used to stop the services in early May.

Delta already blinked and cut Boston-Providenciales from May on.

I'll answer my question of some days ago. JetBlue is now using the old United gates at Terminal C. And still using the orphan gates 40-42.

The August passengers numbers for Logan have been released by Massport

YTD total passengers - 21,319,610 (up 4.5% over 2013)
YTD international passengers - 3,402,365 (up 8.7% over 2013)
YTD domestic passengers - 17,853,821 (up 3.7% over 2013)

Avg load factor to Asia - 180 passengers
Avg Load factor for Copa - 102 passengers (Aug 2014 is down vs. Aug 2013)
Avg load factor to Middle East - 281 passengers
Avg load factor to Europe - 233 passengers

I could be wrong, but I believe JAL and Hainan had a combined 90 % load factor for the month
24,738 total seats - 22,289 total passengers

Correct!!!!

Avg load factor to Middle East - 281 passengers

The flight numbers don't add up -looks like there were two extra flights so there may have been some sort of one-off charter.

Assuming that Turkish ran flew the A340 the whole month and the Dubai flight ran with the 77W, the load factor was around 90% too which is impressive with the recent upgauging by Emirates. The winter months are going to be interesting.

aviationdb.com generates data off a DOT report and 08/2013 loads were much lower 60%. I'm curious to which number is really correct.

Caribbean traffic was up big time this month too. There were some extra flights added for the summer. Turks and Caicos, Cancun, Nassau all had increased service from Logan.

Good that Logan is keeping up with the times, but already E at certain hours in the evening is PACKED (you have to wind your way through people sitting on the ground the departure area [not their fault--no seats or space for more seats] and the security lines are getting bad). If two airlines had A380 flights leaving within 2-3 hours of each other, E would be bedlam.

They are adding quite a bit of space for seating at the A380 gates, curving around the corner of the existing building.

Btw, the floor plans for the A380 accommodations are here:

What sort of poverty is it that they can't afford to call a gate E9 instead of E8b?

I'm not quite sure what the gate numbering logic is. The a and b scheme is used throughout Terminal E. Logically to me, naming gates E8a and E8b would imply that they were served by the same pier (E8), but different jetways. That is clearly not the case though and the a and b scheme is used for E8, E7, E3, and E2.

Maybe it has something to do with the airline gate assignments to help passengers understand where to go and keep them grouped?

And yeah, apologies for not using PNG for the exports.
