I like the kind of improvised food & drink offerings here. Also, the winter market with the micro stores/booths. The smart thing about this dynamic is that it is interchangeable. Brick and mortar designs you're stuck with. The entry barrier is less too. Younger and often more creative vendors can participate. Ironically, the lack of places for community in the Seaport might just in fact be the reason why so much of it will appear. You can't stop the people. They will find a way.

As of 7/6/25 new land scaping/park along Cypher Street.

As of 7/6/25. They have also extended Cypher from D Street to E Street. Looks like they are calling it New Cypher Street. Why the name change???

So this is the first I'm hearing about this project. I'm curious if this whole area is slated to be developed? Or is it going to remain industrial with just a corridor connecting the south end and seaport?

Not sure why they changed the name but it appears to be primarily in service of creating an improved urban freight corridor, supporting movement of trucks to and from the port.

• Cypher-E Freight Corridor has been designated as a critical urban freight corridor, incorporated into the National Highway Freight Network, is part of the Massachusetts Freight Plan and is recognized as a critical means to ensure timely and efficient movement of freight and goods to facilitate supply chain demands

• The Corridor will serve as a dedicated truck route for truck dependent business within the South Boston Waterfront, including commercial, maritime and industrial businesses including those doing business with Massport and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority

In addition to the FPSS donation, Related Beal committed another $200,000 to help establish a museum honoring Boston’s fishing history, to be developed in partnership with the Boston Fisheries Foundation.

Earls Kitchen + Bar to open new Boston Seaport restaurant in 2027

A3CSIHZVSZABXMAXZHCCHH2JYU.jpg

Earls Bar + Kitchen is expanding its local footprint in Massachusetts with a third Boston-area location set to open in early 2027 in the Seaport District.

Earls — currently with 10 locations across the United States and dozens more in Canada, where it originated — has had an established presence in Greater Boston for more than a decade.

In 2014, Earls opened at Assembly Row in Somerville, followed by a 2017 opening at the Shops at Prudential Center in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.

In a little under two years, Earls will open its doors to a new 9,800-square-foot space at 157 Seaport Blvd. featuring a three-season enclosed patio and an al fresco dining space open during warmer months.

Anchored by a “lively bar” in the core of the restaurant, Earls said that its new Seaport West office tower location will “meld tradition and charm with fresh and modern twists.”

The restaurant serves a “modern American menu with global influences and local flavors,” Earls said. It added that its restaurants are “noted for their unique personalities, each curated differently” in a “sophisticated yet upscale-casual dining experience.”

I agree it's pretty great -- and in the warmer months it really shines. It's a playground for/home to the very well-to-do (a frequent "criticism"), but so are Back Bay and Beacon Hill and nobody gets particularly upset about either of those neighborhoods.
