Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

Maybe I'm just noticing what was always pretty obvious, but my impression had been that these buildings would actually connect to Beacon St., rather than simply emerge from bellow the bridge. Not that emerging buildings rather than nothing isn't an improvement, but to truly knit the gap between Brookline and Beacon together, these buildings should at least appear to front the actual street. That was one of the great things about the old Columbus Square project, that had it been built, nowhere on Columbus, Berkeley, or Clarendon, would there have been evidence that the streets were really bridges.

I think that they would connect to Beacon St, but the render cuts off weirdly where they pasted their models onto the background.

Also, this design is from 2015 - I think it will be revised at some point before it breaks ground (if it ever does).

IIRC, the tower is not happening. It is the 2 buildings to the right that are on solid ground, correct?

Depends on what you mean by "not happening."

If you mean "not part of Phase 1" then that's correct.

If you mean "not happening ever" then that's probably correct, but not confirmed and just based on speculation.

The tower reminds me of a turtleneck...

We could see (3) towers in the 300~325' range built right here in the not too distant future.

Has anyone seen a render for the two hotel towers?

The GLOBE said:
Kenmore Square could soon get a lot taller.

Developers filed initial plans Tuesday to build two large hotels on either side of Beacon Street on the western side of Kenmore,
creating a new gateway to the busy square with what would be its tallest buildings.

Under the plan, the owners of the Hotel Buckminster would build a 19-story, 388-room hotel on the site of a parking garage
and a smaller building they own at 655 Beacon St., while Wellesley-based Mark Development would put a 24-story, 375-room hotel
across the street, where a Citizens Bank now stands.

Don't get your hopes up too high.
We went over this not too long ago: there is very little chance Phase 2 of Fenway Center is happening. There is very little space for staging, and his finances will probably never be strong enough to build over the Pike, seeing as it has taken years to get Phase 1 off the ground...

Despite that, let's hope for some architecturally-interesting buildings with Hotel Buckminster's plans, especially on the Citizen's Bank parcel.

So just these two buildings, shame they just don’t go taller with these two

Yeah, Given the low probabilty of phase 2 happening anytime soon, why not double the height in phase 1? Obviously an improvement over a parking lot. But also seems like a missed opportunity in the grand scheme of things.

^^especially considering the minimal shadow impact, from placing height on the south wall of the I-90 Freeway.
