They really missed an opportunity to make those Green strips glow at night -- each of the strips should be multi-color LED just as the LEDs from Phillips (the former Color Kinetics) outline the Zigaurat of the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge

yes and no,sometimes when I see that building at nite I think tacky 80's other times it looks ok just my opinon

Just drove by Phillips Lighting (nee Color Kinetics) in Burlington just North of Rt-128 last night -- they had some fairly interesting lighting along the top of the building.

I think this is a perfect opportunity to cut a deal with Phillips -- they provide the HW and the Mass Art students could then use their own building as a project substrate

Back with more photos!

I'm starting to really like the building. It's getting a lot of negativity, but I think it's because it's so different. Buildings are usually just gray, black, or silver. Or dark red from brick. This things Orange, dark orange, brown, green, and shades of grey. The exterior has a texture. The shape of the building tapers out, and the top is slanted. I think it's a really, really cool building. I still just hate those stupid green windows, though. I do. Not. Get them.

These were taken last week, so they're a little further on the front than that. They're up about another 3 stories.

Nice photos!
I'm also liking it. It is different and not pointlessly so. I love the one window trimmed in green. Nice touch of whimsy.

Bos -- Exactly what Rome would look like if they allowed tall buildings -- the Christian Science dome really gives Boston the Vatican City look from that perspective -- although I don't think there is a recipricol view from St. Pete's that inclues a Green and Orange tower

I don't like the horizontal breaks in the facade that hit every other floor. It makes the building look shorter than it is.

EDIT: I like the building otherwise.

Great building, and it's not hidden away like some of the new MIT buildings. I love that it's down the street from the MFA and is a nice counterpoint with the NE tower. Great texture, fenestration, detail, color, play of light....

Padre -- good to hear from you

I agree if you are going to put up a building with such "exterior novelty" -- stick it near to the SMFA -- just below the MFA
